The house has been renovated well keeping authenticity in mind. A tour in this small house is a step back in time.

We were lucky to stumble upon this while exploring the island and were able to meet the owners and learn the special story of this house. It is a true treasure and we are very fortunate that the private owners are so committed to historic preservation. This is a must-stop on Chincoteague.

This is a tiny house on Main Street. It is basically a pull over, read the sign and take a photo stop. Not much else to do here.

The place has very limited hours (Friday 1 to 3 pm I think). The rather small house stands by the main street and has a small parking/pullover area.

Captain Timothy Hill House, Built Circa 1800. , Very informative history lesson not only on the oldest home built on Chincoteague Island, but also, a very informative ancestry lesson on the family that once lived in this home. The connected family that still to this day live on the Island. Love the tour and the lesson!!! Thanks to all that are involved in the under taking of saving this piece of history to share with us.

Loved this little house. From the outside it doesnt look like much but once you see the inside and hear the docent telling the history of the house you realize it is so much more than it appears, Crazy to think people lived there let alone raising 11 kids there. Rumor has it there is a ghost of the little girl still there, which just adds to the allure of the place. I love how the house was unknowingly preserved, people didnt even realize what a gem they had. The boats carved in the sides of the house added charm.

Great little piece of history and the owners are very welcoming to visitors and know a lot of the history surrounding the house and its previous owners! Great find for us.

We happened upon this little place as we were Geocaching on the island. It is a wonderful part of island history that needs to be shared. There is an old mouse trap in there that is quite interesting. The outside wood of the building has carved boats in it. There woman who gave the speech for us was quite knowledgeable and interesting. She answered questions that we had and there is a guest book to sign. The upstairs is very small and you can just go to the top of the stairs, I can't believe all those people stayed in this tiny place. Thanks for opening it to the public for viewing. Quite a treat.

I love history and this place is a little piece that takes minutes to check out. Been coming for years and I love that this small home has been set up to see.

We really stumbled upon this house, but it happened to be open when we drove by. It was interesting to hear some Chincoteague history and to drive to it's original site. The carved boats on the outside were amazing to see. The lady who was there was very informative and was glad to share stories and answer questions.

This old house is only open on Fridays from 1pm until 3pm. Very worth checking out. The lady that was there, was very knowledgeable about the house and very happy to tell the story over and over when new people came in.

While exploring the island we ran across this little house and read the historic sign. It was closed, I believe had weekend hours. Oldest house on the island, if your into history, it doesn't cost anything to ride by and look at it.

If you like history, this is a must. Docents were very interested in sharing the story of the house and original family. This is a real gift from the people who currently own the home! They saved it from destruction! Thank you!

Go on the one day they are open for the tour. It is a 1 room, 2 floor hues but the volunteer organization that runs it for donations are wonderful interpreters. A Girl Scout gold Award put them back on the map. A wonderful connection to the early history of the island. We donated more than ordinarily we do other places.

Small doesn't begin to describe this house, but it's totally interested and unique. Its hours to tour the inside are extremely limited, so check their website first. Even if it's not open to see inside, you can still peer in through the windows and it's worth it.
