river, reflection lake, otis house, kids play area, peacocks.. this park is a treasure and if you miss this park, you miss something great. Watch out for muddy puddles ;-) if it rained.

We spent 3 very cold nights in November visiting friends in nearby Mandeville. Park was well off the busy road in a very scenic area (people come to have professional photos taken by the water and 100 year old live oak trees with moss hanging everywhere). In fact we are headed back there this weekend on our trip back from Fla. Look forward to it being a little warmer. Sites in the back area don't have sewer, but that's where it is gorgeous. Dump station right there on your way out.

This is a beautiful park and easy to get to from interstate. Anyone looking for a campground who is passing through, I would highly recommend here. Park is full of live oak trees that are hundreds of years old and draped in Spanish moss. There is a pier and fish cleaning station and not far from that is a little boardwalk through some swamp. It's not too long and it's very pretty and quiet. I use the area for photos sometimes. It is right on a river too. People do swim in river at various locations. Not sure if poss from the park but I have seen the gators so I do not get in the water period!

Our elementary school spends 3 days here (1 for each grade level) at the end of school. The pavilion area has just the right amount of sun and large trees for shade for them to have a great day without getting sunburn!! And it was a very safe section of the park for our kids to play in. We will definately come back again.

Lots of Live Oaks, dripping with moss; an antebellum house; pretty riverfront (watch out for the Water Moccasins!); beautiful spacious campsites. Great location.

This park is perfect for people looking for some peace and quiet! The camping spots are well laid out, and are big enough for an RV or small camper. The bathrooms are private rooms, not a communal bathhouse, and are super clean. Other is a small swamp-side boardwalk, and a shorter boardwalk by the Tchefuncte River. Not great on hiking trails, but still well worth the trip.

Peaceful and quiet. Not a hiker's paradise but is an excellent spot for an afternoon picnic or stroll. The camping facilities were very clean and the park offered wifi. You can also tie a boat off in the Bayou. Fyi: Even though Otis house is closed the park is still worth a visit.

Spent three nights at this park in early October. I am a fan of state parks in Louisiana, as I try to get my children outside as much as possible. This park is located just west of Mandeville, towards the town of Madisonville. While not a large park, I found it was well laid out and had its pros and cons, mainly positive.. Check in, we asked the gentleman to change our site and he accommodated me as per my request. I always am very polite to everyone, so I expect the same, and the check in attendant ( appeared to be a police officer as well), was easy to work with and patient. Aside from me changing my check in site, it was very quick. The design of park is well laid out, it basically has three "loops", when driving towards the entrance you will pass the Otis House and pavilion on your left. After entering the park you will have tent camping (unimproved) on your left, and improved (up to 30 amp,) on the right. If you drive straight after entering the park you will drive toward the river and go towards the second "loop" This area has 30 and 50 amp improved camping sites. One thing to notice is none of the sites, improved nor unimproved have tent pads. The unimproved tent areas do not even have water at each site, they do have a fire ring and a bbq pit. The improved sites have power and a fire ring and bbq pit but no sewerage (there are two dump stations in the park). There are two comfort stations. The first one you will pass when you enter the park on your right. I have visited several state parks, and so far it is the best I have visited, including coin laundry. There is another comfort station on the "back" loop by the river which isn't quite as nice, but more than satisfactory. There is also a boat launch at the back loop which was very nice and was being used by many visitors of the park. Overall thoughts... Clean, beautiful place....but a smaller park. Paved roads so you can ride bikes and there is a small boardwalk trail. The boardwalk by the river is beautiful and we did catch a few fish there. Worth a visit, but do not expect a large expansive park, but do expect a clean beautiful quiet experience. Also, no cabins are located at this park.
