The 1/2 day raft trip was a lot of fun. They recently moved from Creede to South Fork but some of the river guides stayed on. The water was low so it wasn't as good as it could of been but still an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon.

DISGUSTEDX

We actually took our trip in July of 2008 while my Dad owned a home in Creede. It was the highlight of our trip because we were so blessed to have met Greg, THE mountain man himself. His staff at the time was top notch and our trip down river was beautiful. Greg was our van driver and I was fortunate enough to get to sit up front and talk with him. Turns out he and our 10 yr old daughter each shared battling cancer. He sat and talked with her for some time at his shop when we got back. The pictures we have of them are priceless as he was truly a remarkable person with such a life story. After Greg passed away my Father made his yearly summer trip back to his home and stopped by Greg's home where his wife picked some of his favorite mountain man shirts to send to us. I wear them still today in honor of the man who lived his life the way he wanted doing what he loved and having a huge impact on so many others he had no idea he was impacting. Buy his book, take the tour and appreciate the beauty that surrounds such an awesome little town and its people.

We wanted to expose our daughter who is 3 to rafting and this float trip was good for her. Definitely no rapids or excitement...but nice people and a good experience!

3-4 hour trip on rafts down the Rio Grande. Nice easy trip. Next time we will kayak.

Had a great time on a 1/2 day rafting trip in early July. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and they supplied everything needed. I definitely recommend the booties for the trip because the water is cold! Our guide Zac kept us entertained with stories and facts about the area during our ride as he paddled and guided us down the Rio Grande. Ryan, the main guide at Mountain Man, drove our van to and from the trip, and he shared lots of fun-facts about the area on our drives and was truly one of the nicest and most-happy fellows I've ever met. All the guides love their jobs and make sure all the guest enjoy their rafting experience. This trip is great for peoples and families of all ages. Thanks - Mountain Man Tours!

Spent three hours kayaking down the Rio Grande and it was exhilarating. it is about a 12 mile journey down the river, depending on where they start. Truly a great way to see the river and the scenery.

Mountain Man Tours is located right in downtown Creede and, as they will tell you, they are the only guided raft tours in the area and also serve as the "rescue" crew for the river. The other rafting companies apparently just drop you off and pick you up, if that's what you're looking for. For our part, with four daughters, we wanted a safer experience of this very beautiful stretch of the Rio Grande which can be seen either by raft or by rail. When we arrived, we were enthusiastically greeted by about 10 college age guides which was intimidating for my girls as we were the only customers during that time slot. That was a strange experience, for sure, but it turns out most of them were training for the busy season which runs from mid-July through August (it would have been very helpful if they had explained this to us, so this is my only complaint). They give you a choice of either having the guide completely control the boat with two oars and a raised seat, or of having all of us help paddle while he directed and steered. We chose the fully-guided tour so we could just chill and enjoy the scenery. Our guide was very excellent -- obviously competent at river guiding, very informative about the river, Colorado and the area, the wildlife, the flora and fauna, and the like. We asked many questions and he had a good answer for all of them, with some corny jokes thrown in, too. About the river -- that stretch of the Rio is very scenic with mild but consistent rapids. Don't expect any wild rapids on this trip. This is probably about as safe as rafting gets, so it's perfect for kids. We barely even got wet. All in all, from registration until the very end, it's obvious Mountain Man Tours is very into customer service, has "cool" guides (young, skier-types), and is very into safety. It's about the same price as the South Fork train ride through the same area, so it's really a matter of taste. The area around there is very scenic and nice.

Came to Creede in 2008 and stayed until 09. The owner Ryan personally took myself and my family on a guided tour of the Rio Grand. I'm hooked!!!! GREAT JOB MOUNTAIN MAN!!!!
