This cemetery is absolutely beautiful. There are MANY large, beautiful markers. Most are better described as sculptures! The weeping angel is one in particular, but there are SO many more that are just as beautiful. Very historic cemetery with graves from soldiers who died in Spanish American War, Civil War, etc. beautiful epitaphs. The chapel is also beautiful and there is a clear glass insert in one of the front stained glass windows so you can look inside the chapel...it is amazing! If you are ever in the East Texas or Shreveport, Louisiana area on a beautiful day, this is worth the trip!

This cemetery was an easy trip from Shreveport, LA. I've been to many cemeteries. There is something very special about this place. It was so peaceful. No one else was around. The sounds of the breeze and birds chirping made you seem like you were in another world. There were butterflies everywhere. I spent much time roaming around taking many photographs. It was a stunning and beautiful cemetery. If you have time be sure to stop there. You won't be disappointed. Whoever is tending to this cemetery thank you for taking such great care of this majestic place.

This is a small family cemetery with marvelous monuments, sculptures, gardens, and a stunning little gem of a chapel. Be prepared to walk. There are sidewalks that are well maintained but other than the driveway up to the chapel, this is not a driving cemetery. Spring and summer are spectacular for the gardens in bloom. The gate near the chapel is unlocked; all others are locked. There is also a port-a-potty (as of July 2014). We've visited here several times and have enjoyed spending time photographing the sculptures and flowers. There is also a cemetery next to the main cemetery which is where the slaves were buried. Bring some bottled water with you as it gets quite warm in the spring/summer and there aren't any stores nearby.

This place is so peaceful and beautiful it has a spiritual aura. Located in one of the earliest of Texas settlements, Scottsville Cemetery must not be hurried through. Many of the headstones predate Texas statehood and the ambiance of the place makes it easy to reflect on those long-ago days. The sculptures are museum quality and a visit will long be remembered. I have visited in different seasons and I guess springtime is the peak, but it is worth a visit anytime.

You won't be disappointed visiting. It is so beautiful, serene, and interesting. I took pictures and sat on the benches and enjoyed the spiritual feeling I got looking at the most beautiful gravestones I have ever seen.

Amazing piece of history. Look carefully for the small, flat headstone that reads: ...Beloved Concubine

If you request a guide, it is more interesting. The gorgeous Italian marble angel was vandalized. Please be respectful when visiting.

This cemetery is absolutely gorgeous. You could get lost for hours looking at all the beautifully carved statues, and reading all the wonderfully loving inscriptions. The church inside the grounds is also an amazing piece of architecture. Definitely worth a walk through. :)
