Each summer for the past seventeen years, the Museum of East Texas hosts an Art Camp for 400 plus students ages three to fourteen. Additionally there are evening classes for adults. During this three month period, the main galleries are filled with the excitement of children and their joyful noise as they attend classes offered in twenty-one different mediums. Each year scholarships are provided by our Museum Guild’s annual Festival of Trees. Although the walls may be barren of art by professionals, we are so pleased that they are filled with the creations of young artists, keeping us in touch with our educational mission and instilling a life long love of art and the creative process. Although the main wing is filled with Art Camp, three additional galleries are filled with exhibitions of art, history and photography. We encourage you to visit the Museum of East Texas year round.

Nice lady at the front but honestly nothing to see...a few rooms with some art...Pass on this place. There are other places like the Texas Forestry Museum

Visited as the volunteers were setting up 100+ trees for their Festival of Trees (for Christmas). About 5 galleries, one with a photography display that was excellent, another with items from their collection (history of the area) and one with FABULOUS fabric art. Excellent gift shop with unique items for purchase. Friendly staff.

Always a new art exhibit on display. Wonderful children and family activities. Christmas is a wonderland when the trees are on display. A must see. Lufkin is so fortunate to have such a museum downtown. And it is always free

the Museum of East Texas has various exhibits which make for a pleasant outing and viewing.... i am especially pleased with the way they have integrated the old Episcopal Church building with the newer parts of the Museum..... take time to note the plaques which mention the names and accomplishments of some of the people from the Lufkin area who are memorialized in the rooms which have been named, particularly in the older Church building.... it's really good to have a Museum of this calibre in a non-urban area like Lufkin!

My family and I finally visited this little museum. Our expectations were that it would be full of East Texas history, and it hardly had any of that. It's free to go, so if you are in the area and need half an hour to kill, this is the place to go. The staff are super friendly!
