Lots of German history in this really small town. The tour guides are really proud of their heritage and they were more than happy to share the town's history with their visitors. We were traveling with a German professor and even he was impressed with their knowledge of Germans in Missouri. After eating all the sausages and drinking all the wine on the wine trail, a good break and a look into our history.

If you want a nice history on Hermann or you have some German blood, you will definitely enjoy this tour. Several historical buildings and museum, including tour given by the State of Missouri.

We enjoyed learning about German culture, traditions and how those were incorporated in Hermann throughout several centuries.

They have done such an excellent job restoring this treasure. It's a must see and take a little time to enjoy the history and the view.

We took this tour to learn a little more about Hermann and we were completely satisified!! My maternal family has German heritage and it was great to see why our family changed the spelling/pronunciation of their last name. Worth the 5 bucks!

Will I go back? Yes. This state historic site compares an upper class settler and a working class settler of Hermann, MO. The guide that we had was full of interesting tidbits regarding the overall history of the area and a great explanation and visual of how the Missouri River used to flow prior to the Corps of Engineers taking over river management. It was fascinating to see the differences in how the classes lived and how much lifestyles have changed in the past 150 years. This was a nice hour or so tour filled with information.

Volunteer guide was excellent. You saw a domestic dwelling and then walked down the street for a commercial building. The displays were excellent. Point--arrive at a tour time. 10 a.m. , 12 a.m. and another because if there is only one guide the headquarters building is closed and left with a return sign.

When I travel, I always like to learn about the local history. If you are a history buff, or just wonder why in the heck little Hermann even exists, stop by and take the tour. Our guide was excellent and knew tons about the original settlers and owners of the homes.

Loved the quaint and interesting historical landmarks in the town including the story of how Hermann was founded. Also enjoyed the wineries.

I learned a lot of interesting information while visiting the Deutschheim State Historic Site. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. He was able to answer all questions he was asked regarding Hermann's past through the present. It was interesting to learn about these old settlement towns.

This museum consists of three separate buildings and seeks to explain the origin and history of Hermann, MO. The guide was knowledgable and interesting. The sites were fascinating, especially the house in which a lady lived without electricity or plumbing into the 1960's. We appreciated the historic garden. It was really a glimpse into the early history of the town, which is why we visited.

Guide didn't seem to know much except what was already printed on placards. Slobby in his dress and presentation. The exhibits themselves were nice and well maintained. Just expected better presentation, didn't learn much more than we could have gotten from a self guided tour.

The site is a historic gem and probably the single best way to understand Hermann, the surrounding region, and its ties to Germany. Our timing precluded taking a tour, but the self-touring was great because of the staffers there. There were docents in period garb making baskets, answering questions (and serving old-fashioned cookies and pink lemonade) in the ancient tool shed, and generally making every minute of our time there as nice as could be. A must-do stop.

Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Hermann. A must if visiting for the first time. Enjoyed learning about the first settlers that came to Hermann, and the history through the years.
