Nature center had 2 owls and other creatures, history in it and clean bathrooms. Nice visit for young and old. Nobody offered to give me info but guides inside were speaking to others. Definitely something to see.

he center has lots of displays to interest & educate. Also, a great hiking trail down to the inland waterway.

This nature center is a part of the larger two part Federal Wildlife preserve; one being an entire huge section of beach and wetlands, the northern end of Jupiter island , the other is this section of dunes, trails, secluded beach on the inland waterway accessible from Rt. 1, federal Highway and adjacent to Jonathan Dickinson Ste Park.near Hobe Sound. Beside the parking lot is a small nature center building with admin office, souvenir shop and a small exhibit of both live and display wildlife. Rangers give periodic nature talks and trail walks. The short walk down to the beach on the sheltered waterway is a wonderful place to walk your dog, just sit and read or meditate and walk the boats go by. This is easy to use and free at this part of the park, the nature center, however, admission or park pass is necessary at the other beach & wildlife part onJupiter Island.

This place tells you about the history of the area in pictures and artifacts. Quite informative and well worth the stop.

This is a nice nature center, the staff is great they answer your questions and let you hold some of the animals. You can take a stroll down the to the Indian River and it is beautiful and a very easy walk.

We went to the shore at Hobe Sound, Florida last week and I was astounded. There on the Atlantic coastline was a rocky shoreline like you see in Northern California. It was beautiful. The waves coming in shoot right up through the rocks. And right across the road they have a nature center with a natural trail and for the old folks a boardwalk clear back to the Indian River. It's just fantastic. And the ride from the interstate to the beach is just wonderful, a mile of huge trees arching over the road. It looks like a tunnel. Just exit 95 to the East and keep going till you run out of road. Definitely worth the trip.

I love taking my 4 children here. The staff is so informative and friendly. There are several different animal exhibit's inside, all very nicely made. It is very easy to walk through and explore. The gift shop has lots of nifty and unique treasures. There are several different trails to hike on. They are short and sweet, thus a snap for kids! Some of the trails lead to the river. We always enjoy our visits. We spend about an hour and a half when we go.

The volunteers here are great and share a lot of information. The 1 mile trail is very interesting, with an osprey nest the highlight. Be sure to take the trail to the beach ... it is incredible white sand.. one of the best in the area.. we were the only people there. The animals in the nature center included a spotted skunk, a gopher tortoise and other small reptiles and animals. The museum is free, but donations are appreciated.

Love to go to this place for a little review of nature. It is free to enter and is very informative.During turtle egg laying season you can go on scheduled night walks to look for turtles. There is a small trail and a nice walk down to the water. It's a lot of steps but great exercise

This center is the place to learn about Florida wildlife and nature. A few years ago they built a beautiful building to house their museum and provide information and education to adults and children alike. They have exhibits with live animals, especially two magnficent birds, a red shoulder hawk and an owl, as well as snakes, turtles, etc. Events and programs are scheduled throughout the year--some for adults and some for children. They provide guided walks on the trail around the refuge on Thursdays at 9:30 AM and naturalist led eco-trips to surrounding areas, such as bird sanctuaries, undeveloped areas, etc. Over the years we have done some of the hikes and did an excellent tour of the undeveloped Atlantic Ridge area. There are brochures and newletters listing the upcoming evnets. It is on US 1, 2 miles south of Bridge Road (CR 708) and 2 miles north of Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Do not miss this great place.

I passed by and felt like I should check this place out. I didn't even go to the animal center, I very much enjoyed the beautiful beach! I was all alone on a Wednesday. It was like my own private beach! The sand is so soft. I had an unreal experience. This beach is 100x better than fort Lauderdale or Miami... And I stress again I had it all to myself! Unbelievable.

We took our Grandson for the whole inside tour which was fascinatingly delivered by a warm knowledgeable volunteer. Then we walked all the trails and wound up on the shores of the Intracoastal where we sat and watched him play for an hour. Wonderful!!!!!

Like others, I was just driving by and decided to stop in. Couldn't believe what a little gem this center is. Loved the animals and the birds but the real excitement was the staff who were so patient and willing to explain anything I asked about. They even brought out a small alligator for me to touch. The best part was the beach. There are 43 steps down to it (yes, I counted) but it is well worth it. Right on the intercoastal, hardly anyone there and a super place to go to watch the boats go by. We take our chairs and a lunch and just sit for hours enjoying the sun and water. Great for the kids to just run and play in the warm water but parents - you are responsible - there is no life guard!

This center has a very nice visitor center. The attendants are very helpful and go our of their way to explain things and point out interesting features within the displays and along the trail. We hiked the trails which were well marked and, using the available trail guide pamphlet, had lots to point out and learn.
