Hiked to the ice falls. It was beautiful but take ice cleats for your boots. I don't recommend wearing tennis shoes when there is a thaw. My 4 year old made the hike but not recommend for older people with difficulty walking

We stayed at Grizzly Jacks for two nights specifically for the indoor waterpark. The place isn't huge, but there is a variety of things for kids to do/play on - wave pool, waterfall, 2 big water slides, 2 kid slides, zero entry into wave pool (only goes to 5ft), kid pool, large hot tub, lazy river, and a kids play fort. We were there with our three year old and she had a great time and never ran out of things to do. There is seating around most of the pool area, and there is a small snack shop to get drinks and food. The locker rooms were ok and had showers and a hair dryer. There is also an arcade right outside the waterpark area. Negatives: (1) Lifeguards were inattentive - more than a few times my husband and I saw two of them talking with their backs to the pool area - and this was by the lazy river water slide area where it seems like it would be easy to lose track of someone anyway. In general they looked bored and didn't enforce many of the rules - kids in hot tub & no swimming without a tube down the lazy river are two that stuck out. Yet, no one got hurt and they did enforce some rules. (2) Kids play fort - many of the forts features didn't seem to be working and in general it seemed in disrepair. (3) hot tub seemed dirty. The water was warm and the hot tub was pretty big, but it just didn't seem clean. Overall we had a good time and would probably go back; yet, we might look into the cost for a day pass instead of spending so much for the connected room.

Affordable and fun for young children. Large pool with varied depths and activities. Water is warm and wave pool is fun. Zero depth entry.

I would go a million times if I could so I rate it over a gazilyon going the 21st yay!The water park was awesome! The amusement park was abosaloutly awesome

Your kids will be bored with the waterpark after an hour and then your stuck with NOTHING else to do. Don't waste your time at the so-called amusement park. There's nothing in there anymore.

We can't say enough good about this hotel...Tram to go across a parking lot? Unless you have mobility needs, we took four kids and walked a parking lot away, one in a stroller. The water park was fantastic..especially for the younger set. It was beautiful water, even our red haired blue eyed kids didn't have any chlorine issues. I think last reviews by Julie and Theresa M were way off base. I've been to water parks in Wis Dells that have three tram routes, the brown line, red line, etc. Try that in the winter..oh yeas, we did! This is a really first class place!

Wish everything would be under one roof. Rooms are ok, waterpark is ok. Having to get on tram to go to other building is not so good. It would be really bad in the winter.

Water park was very cold and the chlorine level was horrible! Burned our eyes and throats! TOXIC!! Amusement park has a restaurant in it. We placed our order for 6 adults and 3 kids. It never came. Oh gosh, they forgot to put the order in! Kid's were crying they were so hungry. And then they had li time to play! The attendants that worked there were completely miserable. For the price I paid, you'll never find me there again!!

I liked everything in the waterpark. My foster sons are 3 & 16 months, so they enjoyed everything from the toddler pool to the lazy river.

Its a smaller indoor waterpark, but kids of all ages can enjoy it. My kids are 2 and 3 and enjoyed the kiddy area, as well as the lazy river. Older kids will enjoy the lazy river as well as the water slides. Just another Fun amenity the hotel offers

1 of the two main water slides is broken and will NOT be fixed until possibly 09/2014. Most of the water falls throughout the facility are not running. The ranger station does not dump water. The amusement park is full of bouncy houses, a zip line, super slide and NONE OF THE ARCADE GAMES were functioning. You can play laser tag for an additional COST. The locker rooms smell like rancid sewer. It was a terrible waste of money. Will not go back ever.

We've been to Grand Bear about 3 times in the past, and it has deteriorated greatly. It really was just gross, in my opinion, many things were not functioning, and it just is not worth the overpriced rooms.*One of two water slides was not working. The waterfall in the lazy river was not working. Most of the features in the children's play area (the tall "barn" area) were not working (the large bucket of water that used to fall periodically, which my kids loved, as well as at least one of the water guns). These were all things my kids enjoyed so they were disappointed. There was almost no one playing around that kids area because it was just boring. In the past, there used to always be a crowd around it waiting for the water to fall. So the entire water park consisted of 1 water slide that you must use a tube to go on, a lazy river with a very limited number of tubes to float on, a wave pool, a shallow area for small kids with a water slide, and a mostly non-functioning kids play area with two dry slides. That is it.*There aren't nearly enough tubes on hand. We were there on a Sunday so it wasn't even that crowded, yet you had to wait to get a tube. And since the only water slide that was working was the one that required a tube, the demand was even greater.*The bathrooms/locker rooms are just completely gross. They aren't cleaned frequently enough so it's just foul. Dirty, wet towels lying everywhere (in toilet stalls on the floor, on sinks, etc.). Wet toilet paper everywhere. Just so gross. I was in the women's room twice within about 1.5 hours and the same dirty, wet towels were lying in the same places. And it smells mildewy/musty also.*The breakfast is just AWFUL and a complete rip-off. Everything is way, way overcooked (probably, in part, due to sitting in the steamers, but it is also overcooked to begin with). Eggs are like rubber. Pancakes are placed in the pan standing up so they are torn apart when people try to get them out, which renders a large portion of the pan inedible (huge waste of food on their part -- I saw an employee throw out almost a whole pan of mangled pancakes and replace it with a full pan of pancakes stacked the same way, which promptly became mangled again). Then if you do eat them, they taste like cardboard. French toast was crunchy on the outsides and like cardboard in the middle. Sausage was burnt around the edges. Potatoes had way too much seasoning on them and were extremely dry. We paid about $35-40 for four people (two kids, two adults) and it was just a complete waste of money. Breakfast is served from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. We arrived around 9:30 and half the pans were empty and sat empty for awhile. We had a significantly better breakfast at the Holiday Inn in neighboring Ottawa over the same weekend and that breakfast was FREE! *Room was fine, but a little worse for the wear. Shower head had a hole all the way around it (about an inch or two all the way around) and paint was peeling off the wall around it. Half the holes in the shower head itself were clogged so water couldn't come out of them. Took forever to wash and rinse the kids' hair, etc. *WiFi barely works and is intermittent. At least it's free.*We had a room with a balcony, but there are no chairs on the balconies so that renders them kind of pointless. It would be nice to be able to sit outside on the balcony, but in order to do that, you'd have to lug one of the very heavy log chairs out there, which really is not an option. What is the point of having a balcony with no chair to sit on? Why would anyone pay extra for that? This might be the only water park in the area, but it's really just not worth it, by any stretch. For the room rate, I expect a fully functioning water park, clean facilities, and at least decent food that isn't overcooked and inedible. I won't be going back until I start to read reviews that make it clear improvements have been made. I can find other ways to spend our hard-earned money that are just as entertaining and more of a value. It was totally disappointing.

First of all, it cost $235 to stay overnight. Not that cheap if you ask me. Stayed there Friday afternoon until Saturday afternoon. Not very long but long enough. The place needs some updating. The waterpark area floor is chipping badly. There were bar mats on the floor of it near the small kids slides to prevent falling. They hurt when stepping on them. Not very attractive or safe if you ask me. They make you pass through the locker room first. It smelled like a sewer. It was HORRIBLE. There were not many lifeguards on duty either and the ones that were on hand were not paying very close attention. A couple were talking amongst themselves. They were not very good. Some seemed to be staring off into space. Also, the breakfast we paid for Saturday morning was HORRIBLE. For the 4 of us it cost $35. Obviously not too much money but the food was gross. The sausage patties were burnt, the potatoes were dried out and way to much garlic on them and the mini pancakes were probably from a microwave and dried out as well. The room appeared clean, but needed updating too. It also smelled weird. The only thing that was o.k. was the amusement park. The kids had fun there. They are ages 4 and 6. I probably would not return there again.

They need more restaurants on site. Was a good place to go. Also they offer alot for a small water park. We would probally go agian.

Small park, but that's not always a bad thing! Easy to keep track of kids, and enough fun to keep them busy. Our 11yo loved the wave pool and the slides, but bigger kids might feel it's a bit small for them.
