It's hard to believe all the memorabilia and relics they have crammed into such a small upstairs area but it is well worth the stop. There are volunteers working there that will share stories with you and answer questions as well. Last time I was there I got to speak to a WWII Vet who told my dad and myself many stories of his past. My dad even found some patches there from the tank battalion that he taught out of in Fort Knox, KY many years ago. It really brought back memories for him and I would suggest that if you have a living family Veteran to bring with that you do so. It's not some fancy hands on type museum but more of the real deal stuff that you don't always get to see at those larger places. I only chose a friends visit because they didn't have Family (adults).

Brought tears to my eyes when touring this museum. A great tribute to those who served our country, some paying the ultimate sacrifice. God bless all those that served.

This place has TONS of uniforms from every branch. I thought it was very neat to see it. We were not able to spend too much time due to us getting there close to closing time, but from what we did see it was a very nice put together museum!

We have been to Pontiac a handful of times, but were never able to go through the War Museum until today. Wow! Unreal. We could have spent a lot more time there, but had a 5-year old with us, so we knew not to push the limits. We will definitely go back. You could truly spend a few hours there .. and then some! Very interesting and we were amazed that this museum is only 10 years old. What a fantastic job they have done. Most of the items are all donated from local families, and of course, each one has a story. The volunteer that we spoke with gave us a nice tour and told us of many of his heroes - his Dad among them - who started the museum. Truly a history lesson. This museum is not to be missed!

Came to visit the Route 66 museum which shares the same building. Located on the second floor it showcases items brought back from veterans of WWI through current wars. There were mannequins on display dressed in the clothing of area veterans and service member which I thought was very neat. Reading all of the stories it's hard not to get emotional thinking about all who have defended our freedom. It was cool to hear from a WWII vet about his experiences and along with a Vietnam vet they were very knowledgeable about all of the artifacts. Couldn't believe all of the items on display!!

Touring the museum is like taking a trip through time. The world wars all the way up to Iraq and Afghanistan with displays of uniforms and various weapons. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very enthusiastic to answer questions. This was a very humbling experience.

Visiting War Museum in Livingston County leaves a very deep Impression.History of the war is carefully preserved and skillfully displayed.People who served in military defending our country during the wars represented by mannequins dressed in uniforms. Names and ranks shown.Literary hundreds on the floor. News headlines, ammunitions. Everything says a story, leaves a mark in memory. We were very lucky to meet David Estes. Upstairs above the IL Rt 66 Museum is another treasure that shouldn't be missed. Uniforms, pictures and memorabilia from most of our wars. Run by volunteers who are very proud of their service and of their museum. Great guys to talk to. Donations accepted. Don't miss this museum.

We stopped here after leaving Chicago on day 1 of our Route 66 journey. We arrived quite late as they shut at four but the volunteers said they would stay open for us and we are so glad they did. It's such a personal museum with uniforms of local servicemen and women who have passed away in active service. We learnt a lot and traded military stories with everyone. Thankyou for staying later for us.

We were so impressed with this gem of a museum. The volunteer service men from the Korean war and WW II were great showing us around. We were in awe of all the lives that are honored in this wonderful museum. It is some place that everyone should make a point to see at least once.

Huge display of military uniforms from different wars. Also some uniforms of those who died in action. Very impressive and touching.

We stopped on our way home from Wisconsin to Texas. David Estes has done an amazing job in capturing the personal side of the military members dedication and sacrifice. Every item from uniform to articles they carried has a story to tell. Words cannot express the amount of gratitude and respect for creating such a wonderful museum. If you're close to Pontiac make a stop, you will not forget this place. In memory of my brother Robert Pulaski "Screaming Eagles" we miss you.

I didn't know what to expect here but was surprised by the number of items on display. Wow!! This museum was started by a local man several years ago. If he was still alive, he would be very pleased how this museum shows today.

We had teen boys with us and they couldnt see enough. The veterans that where there gave so many good stories. They let us hold some of the guns and we got great pics of the boys. There was so much to look at! I would come back in a heartbeat.

This was a little gem in Pontiac. No idea it was there, but worth a visit. Over 200 military uniforms on mannequins plus other memorabilia. Also, has exhibits for life in the 1940's which was interesting.Admission is free and it adjoins a hwy 66 exhibit which is also interesting.
