When we finally found the zoo (no signposts until you are on top of it) we understood why it is only 5E to get in. I understand it is a work in progress, but by the looks it has been run down for quite a while, and the Avery's seem over stocked.I assume they are making all habitats larger, which will take some time.

With not too much space and not many large animals, this zoo does not have any special feature to boast of. However, it is okay to spend some time here, seeing apes, crocodile, hippopotamus, etc.

Expected to see the normal things in these gardens tucked away near a shopping area, parrots, eagles, etc. However was interested to find crocodiles (small) to hippo (large). Worth a visit maybe when you do the Naval or Car museums nearby.

We were a bit worried after other reviews said the cages were small, but we found for the animals and birds that were there their surroundings were fine. The Hippo did have quite a small pond but they were in the process of building an much bigger enclosure when we were there. There is a lovely cockatoo who says 'hello' to you and stretches out a leg for you to touch, we didn't touch him though. The zoo is set in to the Rock and it's amazing how they built it. The machine for having a freshly squeezed orange juice is a lovely touch - Britain take note!

Between all the opulence of Monaco, it looked to me as the poorest place. Limited space, animals in small cages, and in general, more of a sad than happy experience. Not for me to judge, but if Monaco is too small to have an animal friendly zoo, perhaps it shouldn't have any?

Well I guess I should have known that the limited space in Monaco would mean that this zoo was also limited. It's built up a rock face but in a very limited area. This means there is not that much to see and some of the animals enclosures are quite cramped. Being able to feed the animals popcorn is also a bit weird, and makes for a lot of kids picking and prodding at cages etc.I would only go if you are desperate to find something for the kids to do (as I was). It really is miles behind every other zoo I have been to in Europe.

one of my worst memories - the extremely odd zoo... I cannot understand this and find it offensive. Not something to visit in my view.

The zoo was very good. It was lovely to hear all the African Greys and Macaws from the harbour. You could hear them long before you could see them!! The hippopotamus looked a bit lonely but then I guess you're a bit limited for space on the side of a mountain!! Good value for money I would say.

The zoo is quite big considering Monaco is quite small. Some of the animals were so beautiful and the zoo looks well maintained

Charming floral environment with a view and benches to rest.We found the quiet and peaceful fountain relaxing.

I like to see animals well cared for in open spaces if they have to be kept at all. This mini zoo is on the side of a cliff and the cages and pens are too small and cramped, there were far too many birds in some of the cages and to see some animals in these conditions is really not nice.I would miss this one and we should all write to request that they improve the conditions for the animals. In such an amazing area of extreme wealth and prosperity there is no need to have this token gesture of kept animals, there are so many more amazing things to do don't bother with this one.

The animals appeared to be badly cared for - with filthy, cramp conditions. Would only go if you had small children as parts are like a 'petting zoo', certainly not for adults.

Pardonnez, I'm affected. My son nearly lost his finger at this 'zoo'.This spot is really just a trail cut into the cliff of Rocher des Grimaldi with little stalls or caves created to hold the animals. The animals suffer, and so did we.

This small zoo is, I think aimed more at children. Certainly there were plenty there with their nannies when we went. For a small area there are a surprising number of exhibits, including some animals I'd never seen before (and I can't remember their names), plus wallabies, some unusual birds, and a pair of kinkajous with huge eyes in the nocturnal house. There's even a hippopotamus, which we got a really close look at.

Lovely collection - used to have a snow leopard which has sadly gone but seems weird to have a hypo basking on the edge of cliff looking over the marina. Animals seem to be well cared for. enjoyed visit been many times in past 12 years
