The official guide notes "you will see old clothes", so I approached the museum with some misgivings. I was pleasantly surprised to find an old restored town house with three floors of interesting room settings of past life in a Sinop house, with everyday furnishings and models (wearing old clothes). All much better than expected. Admission 5TL.Easy walking distance from the Archaeological Museum, and the Alaaddin Mosque. Also, tried Balatlar Church but it was closed and surrounded by fences. Looks to be under renovation. Check before making the effort to go.

This and the Museum get a 4 star rating relative to what else is available in Sinop. The Mosque is an early building in 13th century before Domes were built in Mosques and is pre- Ottoman empire? I would give the Mosque 3 stars. This old mansion has three stories and the basement was the stable which helped warm the house. Most of the living was on the third floor with no doors to the 8 rooms that faced the center room. The mannequin exhibits were well done giving a good sense to the life at that time.

This is an Ottoman mansion with gorgeously painted interior walls and ceilings. Most rooms show mannequins in costume with the furniture of the period. We thought the atmosphere would benefit from appropriate recorded music. An unfortunate choice was to staple a sheet of paper to each and every carpet warning you not to step on it. This made it impossible to get a good photo of any of the carpets. The garden in front of the museum is extraordinary.

This Ottoman house has been restored and furnished as it would have been a hundred years ago. It is not amazing but a nice thing to visit on a cloudy day in Sinop. Don't miss the nice ladies working on looms in the basement who will be happy to demonstrate their craft.

This lovely museum building situated in the middle of Sinop town center. After you spend some time in the beautiful garden, you can visit the museum for lots of precious etnographical artifacts of people of Black Sea Region. If you're in Sinop, I suggest you to visit this museum.

The museum is in an Ottoman era mansion. Wax figures show you how they dressed and lived. Each room focuses on a specific aspect of their lives, such as the Bride's Room, complete with a closet that really was the en-suite shower! Another room reflected the gentlemen's activities with guns, etc. Another contained looms, spinning wheels and such. The paint and decor have been restored, but they kept a small area of the original paint to show the integrity of the restoration. Though small, this was our favorite museum. On the ground level floor a number of ladies are keeping the weaving tradition alive. There are several looms in use at any given time. Their wares are sold elsewhere, not on site. The ladies were very friendly and told us about their craft.
