Met lovely Moorean couple who offered to drive us to Sofitel. Easy trip with good food and drink options. Great way to experience locals

Best way to go from Tahiti to Moorea is by the Aremiti, an exciting 30 minute ride, make sure to be seated as the ride is choppy. You might spot some interesting things on the way.

Arameti ferries from Papeete downtown to Moorea are well run, quite modern facilities and really good coffee on baord too!

It is what it is. The sea was a little rough on the way back but we were very comfortable. Easy to get on and off.

This was an easy and economical way to get to Moorea. We got off a cruise ship and just walked the 2 minute path to the terminal and got on. We bought a round trip ticket and paid cash (it was about $15 each ) in XFP. There were some folks near us who were trying to put it on their credit card and the paper was out and the machine was SLOW and they were getting very aggravated. I wanted to use up as many Francs as possible, anyhow, so cash was the best way to go. Readers have asked if reservations are required, and the answer is absolutely not. There were many, many seats available. It was air conditioned and very comfortable. They served food, and the restrooms were clean. The schedule is worth paying attention to though. We were on a boat that left about 11, and the next one was hours away. They are more frequent in the morning and later afternoon to accommodate local residents who go to school or work via the ferry. I did not realize that there are 2 ferry companies going to Moorea. The Aremiti Ferry is large and takes vehicles. The other one, it's red, is just for people. When we were on Moorea, the hotel had the schedule posted of the red ferry (sorry, I don't remember the name of the company), and it left Moorea for Papeete at 12:30pm. I asked at the desk, and the receptionist told me that the Aremiti actually left at 11:00 am and called to confirm. Since I had purchased round trip tickets, I would have been upset if I missed it by an hour because the Aremiti didn't sail again until about 4 pm. I had no idea that it was two separate companies, and the hotel didn't make that clear. So a big thank you to the receptionist at the Sofitel.

We took a snorkeling trip to Moorea from papeete. The crossing was very easy to do. The only thing you need to watch for are the schedules. You can buy round way tickets.

Good way to see morea. Very reliable, safe fast and economical. I was most. Impressed with the speed 45 mins, tge smoothness of the trip and ease of embarking, noise barking of vehicles and passengers and most of all the beauty of Morea.

My husband & I stayed 2 nights on Moorea prior to a cruise out of Papeete. We flew Air Tahiti to Moorea but took the ferry back. It was easy to get resonable transport to the Ferry Terminal. Ferry ride was 45 min. It was a beautiful day & beautiful crossing! Ferry was not crowded. Washrooms & seating areas were clean. We easily checked our luggage & retrieved it at the port. At the port of Papeete, it was a short 5 min walk to the cruise ship with our luggage. It worked out perfectly for us!

Pretty good schedule, fair price, lots of room, nice seating, good food selection. Overall a nice experience.

Disappointing that this Ferry does NOT run at night which is when all the plane flights come in so you are forced to spend the night in Papeete. When you arrive in Moorea there are several options for transport. Taxi's and shuttle buses. Rental Car place across the street from ferry there. About $100 a day but you get to see the island.

The passage over and back were beautiful and one of the highlights of our time in French Polynesia. Moorea was amazing and perhaps the highlight of our time in FP. We were careful to arrive half an hour prior to sailing to procure tickets for ourselves and our rental car. Great value for an adventure in itself.

Good transportation between pateete and moorea. On time and clean. Has food sevice on board. Not tried the food. However, the price posted is very reasonable.

Rode this very to Moorea and back. The ferry was just renovated and looked brand new. The seats were very comfortable, but don't recline. Art the back there are seats with tables, along with a cafeteria. On the top of the ship there was an open air deck which was wonderful for snapping pictures of both islands. There was some really nice foods available that were very reasonably priced. On both voyages, the ship was less than 50% full and there was a lot of room to spread out. The trip only took 40 minutes and was never late. There are two ships running this route, the Aremeti 2 and the smaller Aremeti 5. Both are renovated but the Aremeti 5 has free wifi. You can buy the tickets right at the terminal. We also had a few pieces of luggage that we needed to check in. All you need to do is place the luggage is a separate section and it would be put in the cargo hold. The ferry terminal in Tahiti was also newly renovated and pleasant. However, this is not the case with the Moorea terminal. It was very small and hectic, especially when everybody is waiting for their luggage. It was a nice short hop with beautiful scenery, so don't forget to bring your camera!

I was in Tahiti for 5 days and unless you're a surfer, or a diver, there is precious little to do around Papeete so I decided to take a day trip over to Moorea....it was wonderful and I'm so glad I did it. The ferry leaves several times a day and the round trip cost is CPF3,000 or less than $30.The ship is comfortable, with lots of seating and plenty of windows to watch the view. Coming into Moorea is just beautiful. The water changes from an almost royal blue to turquoise and green. The lush forests come right down to the ocean and the mountains are jagged and spectacular. The trip takes about 40 minutes and even when there's a slight chop to the ocean the vessel handles it well....so well it rocked me off to sleep on the way back to Papeete.I purchased my tickets right at the dock and there was no problem doing that. There is a cafe on board that serves sandwiches, cakes and drinks. The crew were very friendly and helpful. The service was excellent!

Very good service, the ferry tickets were good value and the boat was very clean and modern. Booked the tickets through their website which was easy to navigate and efficient.Only took about 40 minutes to get to Moorea and it was a very pleasant ferry ride.
