Misquamicut is the place to go if you like traffic, noise and crowds. The state beach is nice and if you get there early parking is not a problem. It has rest rooms and there is a playground if you have little kids. As you head south on Atlantic Ave the beach gets smaller and more crowded with restaurants and hotels.

The family and I make the hour and a half trip out here atleast four times a year. The beach is beautiful any time of the year. We've even come here during the winter. The bathrooms are always very clean. Which amazing considering the amount of people that can be here during peak season. I highly recommend visiting here.

You can pretty much have the beach to yourself these days. But it is still great for walking/running or picking up a shell or two and as many rocks as you wish! The gulls are still around on a clear day, you can see Block Island and Long Island. The winter beach is beautiful.

The waves were crazy sometimes but thats what makes Misquamicut Beach fun. There is exciting waves, nice sand, and good restaurants all in walking distance. It is a nice atmosphere. The only downfall is sometimes there can be a lot of seaweed in the ocean.

This is usually the beach I come to when I visit Rhode Island to see family. It's very busy so make sure you come early...but very clean and plenty of places local to eat and have fun!!!

Because I use my boat to do the beach route, Misquamicut is often not on my radar. However, there is great night life here and often the restaurants along the short house wonderful bands. Sitting beach front, listening to great music is my idea of a fun night. Its the best for waves if that suits your fancy.

I grew up going to this beach every summer and each summer came a new hike in parking passes. I blame the economy shift and increase in everything but minimum wage. Regardless of this though, I still keep going to the same beach because it is worth it.

Recently had a warm spell through the weekend and the fiance and I decided to head to Misquamicut beach for the day. The beach was fairly backed with locals and some out of staters. nice thing was since it is after the tourist season, you do not have to pay the crazy amount of parking fees and for access to the beach. When we pulled in we noticed that a lot of beach goers parked at the closest entrance to the beach so we decided to go a bit further north along the beach for access. There were few vehicles and we were able to find parking very easily. It was a very relaxing day and even though people kept saying the water was warm, I would disagree. The water still seemed frigid to me but maybe because I am just not a custom to northern Eastern Coastal water temperatures. It was great to watch all the families with their kids on the beach and it was overall a relaxing time. Would definitely recommend this beach but may want to go when not in season.

It is one of the cleanest and nicest spots to play in the waves, sand, walk the beach. My wife and I like to bring a couples sandwiches from home, chairs, and games to play. We go when the parking is free (later in the day, or off season/ coincidence i think). We park, play in the water then in the sand and back and forth. Watch for the birds trying to eat your food. We were in the water the first time there and walking back from the water found two seagulls neck length deep in our bag of chips. Funny but not enough to let them keep doing it lol. We havn't stayed overnight but from looking around the area, it wouldnt be a bad idea.

One of the best beaches in New England. Great for a weekend or a week. The beach is huge and goes on and on. Good food is available nearby. Parking is inexpensive. Single or a family will enjoy and will look forward to returning.

This year's Festival was a great time at the Misquamicut state beach. From the car show, to the bands, rides and games, and food. Then take a nice walk on the beach and plenty of places to eat or have a drink. Plus a good time to stay over night with the festival running after labor day, prices on motels are cheap.

the water was pleasant (it's september), parking wasn't bad. there's a festival going on down there so make sure you go to the free parking lot!

I was totally disgusted by my trip to Misquamicut on September 8, 2014. The place was a mess, granted, we paid no $28 out of state fee, BUT, I would have gladly paid that for a bathroom. All the bathrooms were closed except for 3 porta potties. The porta potties were gross, trash piled in them, dirty toilet paper thrown around, to be honest, I did not even go inside to see the waste level. There were hundreds of people there, they needed more than 3 porta potties and they should have been cleaned. There was garbage everywhere too, paper cups, plates, napkins, just really gross. Shame on the State of Rhode Island on this one. I know the lifeguards are back at school, but maybe charge a low price to keep bathrooms and cleaning in place. Just my opinion.

Every summer our whole family went camping and it always included Misquamicut! We kept our camping trailer down at a place called "Card's Camps" on a permanent basis so all we did on Friday evening was take the 2 1/2 hour drive down there to Rhode Island. The beach was always clean and had lots of waves. Most always, I would see someone I knew when I went so it was a good place to catch up with some friends from Massachusetts tool. I have excellent memories lying there on the beautiful sand. You do have to pay for parking! Though below it says I was there in 2013 I had no choice to go back further. I haven't been there in over 10 years but I did go for over 20 growing up. And What sort of Visit? FOR EVERYONE!!

We found this beach quite rocky compared to East Beach, not dirty but not as clean. The sand was rough and there was no bathrooms open only portable ones that you could not lock the doors.
