We went mid Sept 2014 so wasn't sure the water would still be exciting. Everyone there was very friendly & easy to be around. Equipment was in good shape & clean. After a short bus ride we carried the rafts to the waters edge and headed out. Our guide (Jeff) was very qualified and entertaining. Water was class II with some III mixed in to excite us. Paddling was minimal. Lunch was sandwich burritos with water or lemonade. The run allowed for swimming and a rock jump for the more daring. Price was reasonable for trip. Price for pictures offered was too steep.I would recommend this group

We had a great guide but I think all of them are just as amazing! The rapids we went on were awesome!! Make sure to go cliff jumping when he asks if anyone wants to do it. If nobody else in the boat wants to, stand up for yourself and say you want to! That's what I did. You can only jump once unfortunately. But it is awesome! You end right where you parked the car so it's even better!! And when you're getting to the place, as of a few weeks ago in August 2014, there was construction on the road where it is so we drove right by it but hopefully it'll be fast. It's right off a little bridge I believe. Just keep your eyes out for the building. Call before you go. Because you never know when you'll have connection to call for help.

My boyfriend and I were first time white water rafters, and I'll admit I was pretty nervous. The staff was super friendly and did a great job of making me feel at ease. We were given a life vest, helmet and paddle, and loaded into the van for a short 15 min drive down to the launch point. There were lots of other companies unloading and launching in the same spot as well. Our leader, Noah, was awesome. It is his first season, but you would never know it. He gave a very quick, but thorough run-through of rules and advice for the safest, best trip, then off we went! It was a hot, sunny day in July and it was absolutely gorgeous and SO MUCH FUN! It was the perfect mix of raging rapids, then calm spots to jump out and swim. There is a 10 ft rock that you can climb and jump off, which was awesome. There is also a photographer that follows the different companies down the gorge and takes pictures along the way. At the end of the day, you can purchase the CD for $40. (If our raft was full of people we knew, we would have purchased, but who wants pics of a raft full of strangers...)About halfway through, we pulled over for lunch, which was surprisingly DELICIOUS! A HUGE chicken wrap with spinach and sundried tomato spread, cookies, lemonade, trail mix. There was decent waterfall at the spot that you can actually go under, which was nice. The only complaints I have about our trip: our raft mates weren't the best. A family of 4 (older, overweight parents, a teenage daughter and a 12 year old son). The dad was cool, but the kids were whiny and complained it was cold the whole time (it was 89 degrees and sunny), and the mother sat with her eyes closed the entire time, halfway asleep. They didn't participate in any rowing, which made it very difficult for us who had to make up for them. The last 2-3 miles is still water so if you don't row, you will float at a snail's pace. I do wish the leader "encouraged" everyone to participate in the rowing more. It made the last leg very miserable, not how I wanted to end the trip.Suggestions: If you can, go with a group of 6-8 people that you know. Next time we will gather our friends and go together

The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The facility itself is pretty basic. The rafting equipment was in good condition, but the wet suits where very worn. They do disinfect everything after each use,but the wet suites were damp and uninviting to put on . They need better air drying facilities. At the end of the trip customers are asked to carry the raft up a stone embankment and across Route 28 ,back to the facility. I think this would be better done by Adventures staff.

There are a number of companies to choose from for your rafting adventure. Adirondack Adventures should be at the top of your list if you want an informed, instructive, safe, exciting, satisfying experience! The day started with getting outfitted with the proper gear. We were rafting in late May, so the water was cold - wet suits were definitely in order. The staff worked to get all of our rafters equipped - no small feat for the more than 24 rafters on three rafts (more like herding cats!). We were given a very good briefing as to what to expect and what to do if (heaven forbid) we fall out of the raft. (Float on your back - let the life jacket do the work. DO NOT STAND UP!) Our pilot, Pete, was terrific - a good coach and knew how to pull a group of people together. We loved his passion for his work! We stopped for lunch about half-way and enjoyed a healthy wrap, some cookies and water. I chose to take the jump at one of the stops from the rock to the river (a blast!) but of course, the result was a very wet wetsuit. At the lunch stop, one of the pilots saw me shivering as I ate my wrap and was very kind in bringing me a couple of cookies to give my sugar a boost. Everyone looks out for everyone else! The rafting adventure is not for the faint-hearted: the rapids are seriously challenging. But we tackled it all like pros with the coaching of our pilot, support of each other, and teamwork. ADK Adventures has other pluses too: they have a real focus on customer experience, but also safety and sanitation - they disinfect their wet suit! For those of you looking for the best ADK experience, this is not to be missed and Adirondack Adventures will deliver.

Recently found ourselves in the Adirondacks as part of a multi-destination tour of the USA, and decided to go white-water rafting. We're a couple with a teenage daughter, from the UK, but living in the UAE. With no knowledge of the area, and an unworkable time difference to contend with for making telephone calls, we were faced with an internet search of companies in the area. All of the various companies that operate on the Hudson seemed to offer pretty much the same thing - a 17 mile trip spread over a half day with lunch at the side of the river - so being candid, we opted for the least expensive which was Adirondack Adventures. They were also the most helpful and expeditious in responding to the email that we sent to the three cheapest companies that we short-listed.Anyway, when we arrived, we were delighted with the fact that it was a very friendly, family-run business, and perhaps being one of the smaller concerns that operate on the river it was obvious that customer service and fun were top of the operators' agenda. It was also pretty clear that the guides lived for rafting - it was far more than a job to them. The battered old school bus that we travelled on to the putting-in site up-river was another positive part of the experience for us - including some great music and singing en route. When we got to the put-in site, we realised that as suspected, every company does pretty much the same trip with pretty much the same lunch by the river, so we were glad we'd taken the cheap option! Why spend more money for the same experience? We were put into a boat with Drew, who was absolutely great. He's local, rafts in Summer and snowboards in Winter - not a bad life. Easy to chat to, and you can tell that this really is his passion. Even his holidays seem to revolve around rafting. A few hours in Summer on the Hudson was great for novices like us - a perfect initiation; not so sure about spending 2 weeks rafting the Colorado for fun, though - but that's the kind of thing these guys love. Due to his consummate skills and vast experience of the river, we were lucky to not have to do as much work on the water as many of the other boats from other companies making the same trip, despite there only being four of us in the raft - perfect for first-timers who want a bit of an adrenaline rush without too much hard work (see photo for proof). After the trip, we hung around for an hour or so, chatting with Geoff (the owner) and all the guides, and were even treated to some impromptu guitar playing, just sat outside the rafting centre enjoying the sunshine. Whilst this doesn't necessarily happen every day, presumably, it rounded off our day on the river perfectly. All in all, we couldn't recommend Adirondack Adventures any higher, and it was certainly one of the highlights of our four week, multi-state trip to the States.

This small rafting company (no groupons available) is personal, exciting and worth every penny. The guides are fun and knowledgeable. The river was high and had great rapids. Swimming in the river was like going back in time. It was awesome! Can't wait to go again. I highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Coming from Florida, I was totally unfamiliar with this area and had never been whitewater rafting so I had to rely on whatever information that I gathered over the internet. After narrowing down my search to 3 rafting companies I started calling them to get feedback, answer questions and make sure our event would be safe and an experience our clients would not forget. I asked basically the same questions of all of them and their pricing was very similar, but after several conversations with Geoff at Adirondack Adventure I made my decision. Geoff answered all my questions in a friendly, warm and professional manner. He gave helpful hints, made suggestions and just really made me feel comfortable. He emailed me information and even thought I called him several times with questions, he, unlike others didn't make me feel like my questions were unimportant or that I was bothering him.The rafting trip was amazing and memorable. His guides knew what they were doing and we felt safe enough to totally enjoy the adventure. Our clients are still taking about what a great experience they had. I will recommend Adirondack Adventures to anyone that I hear is interested in doing a rafting trip in that area. They were great and if we make this an annual event, we will definitely use them again.

On our family vacation we decided to go white water rafting. Adirondak Adventures provided a wonderful trip. The guides were all friendly and knowledgable, we had plenty of white water to travel through as well as relaxing times and times we could jump out of the raft and float in the water for awhile. Lunch was provided and very good, the lunch stop had a short walk to a very pretty waterfall. The day was very hot but on the river with good company we all had a great time.
