I often just drive up to the picnic area to have a quiet lunch and just get lost in the silence. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful place so near.

My wife and I took our vintage RV here during peak colors (late Oct.). Sites are primitive but level, beautiful, and well kept. Fresh water and dump station are right near each other and easily accessible. Water tasted great. Hiking trail to Mt. Camerer peak is gorgeous and challenging and lets you experience a bit of the Appalachian trail. Families with kids at the top but we were still very challenged--a must do from this campground. Try to camp near a trash and bath house, as it is convenient and the latter are well kept, although without hot waterand showers. There's even a cool little mountain family graveyard inside the entrance to the campground. One of the less populated of the many campgrounds in the GSMNP. Enjoy!

This is a great place for kids to experience the mountains and be outside for a picnic. It is an easy drive from I-40 using the Foot Hills Parkway....6 miles. The views coming over the mountain are terrific too. This was a great area to camp. It offers spaces for rigs, pop ups, and tents. It is near the AT and hiking is super. A must do with kids!

We love this area! The creeks are so nice and refreshing to sit on a rock or wade around in after taking a beautiful hike. The picnic area is very nice and relaxing. The bathrooms are very clean!!!

There are plenty of picnic tables but there is nothing to see or do.You have to go for a short hike to see the river. Now there are extensive hikes in the area to the falls. If you can't hike uphill, you won't make it.

I wish we brought a packed lunch with us when we came here. Whole area surrounded by creeks for everyone to play in. We could've spent an entire afternoon here. Bathrooms were clean.

The Nature Trail at Cosby is a relatively flat and under-a-mile loop. It's quiet and seldom crowded, and is refreshing in all seasons because of the rhododendrons and little stream you follow and keep crossing. Spring wildflowers are nice, too. Restrooms and picnic tables are nice, too.

We haven't explored much here but we did do the Nature Trail on 2 occasions. This time there was snow on the ground. Its a great little trail with plenty of stream crossings and cool little bridges. Lots of lush plant life and just great all around piece of forest. There is one part where the river splits around you and all you can hear is the water, and you are surrounded by trees. The air is cool and fresh blowing off the water, and it is by far one of my favorite little places on this earth!

Bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. We stayed two nights but would have stayed longer if we had the time. Great trails without having to leave the camp grounds. This is my husband's favorite quiet area of the park. We were there for the 4th of July and it still was not over crowded. Tent site $14 a night. You can make reservations online or you can get a site first come, first serve. Room for tents and campers.

A nice, clean and well maintained area of the park. You can sit next to a stream while enjoying a picnic and it is usually less crowded than some of the more well known picnic areas. There is a nice self guided nature trail if you feel like hiking after your picnic.

Stopped at the Cosby Picnic area on a whim to eat lunch before our rafting experience. Turned out to be a great stop. The picnic are was empty (several cars in the lot, but we were the only ones eating). We were able to hike down a bit and let the kids play in the cascading water and get several gorgeous photos, all without anyone else being around. It truly made it feel like it was our little slice of the mountains. Hoping an excellent review doesn't make this area crazy busy as it is defintely on our list of places to go again.

I liked this pinic area like many in the park this one sits next to a creek, river or lake whichever you would like to call it. So you could sit at the tables and look out over the water. We got awesome pictures hanging out next top the water and we saw trails for hiking but neither of us felt like hiking so that will have to wait for another trip.

This is a lovely spot to gather with friends and family. Before or after eating, take the one-mile self-guided nature hike through the quiet historical area. It is simply lovely.
