Amazing, first visit to a National Park. Visited in October and the views were gorgeous. Did go up to Hangman's Dome, view was very overrated, could not see anything and was very cold. Later, realized this is pretty typical. The trip up to the top is worth all of the views.

Take an hour or two to drive up the mountain! The views are great and the waterfalls are breathtaking!

If you're in the eastern part of the US, and even if you're not, you should visit the Smokies at least once. They're quite remarkable--stunning, I would say. Vast, lush, etc. But a warning: if you go between October and March, you risk a snowstorm derailing your ride back. This happened to me and I had to take a long detour--eek. Go in April.

We live in TN and are in the Smoky Mountains all the time, and the Beauty of it never escapes us...You can hike, picnic, or just ride through, you will not be disappointed

There is nothing more beautiful or closer to God's magnificence than this! If you want that peaceful high.....come here. Any time of year is good unless you want to go to the highest point Mt Mitchell then don't come in winter! Spring is my favorite or summer. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Pkwy will blow your socks off! Camping? Come on....just be prepared to do the bear camping way. Hiking? Try Kingmans Dome. Trails a plenty. Bird watcher? You are in heaven! I just can't say enough....I love this place! All kinds of activities....water rafting, fishing, hiking, bike riding on and on....you will love it trust me.

Waking up in the morning, looking out a window, look! I see smoke! No it is the mystical smoke rising up from the Smokey Mountains. Green, lush, so many places to walk and see, wild life surrounding you. A humming bird floated in front of me one day at a river bank, I almost cried.Watching the moon rise over the mountains is breathtaking. Both visits we witnessed full moon rising, how majestic. You just have to go, ride horses, take hikes in the woods, wade in a stream. You will never forget your first taste of the Smokey Mountains, and will always want to return............HOME. Yes I found my true home in the Smokey Mountains, from Gatlinburg TN to Cherokee NC....HOME

It is one of our greatest natural treasurers. The hiking is good especially Klingmans Dome. Traffic can be heavy in parts of the park.

Love visiting the park, visitors center each time we are here. Gorgeous scenery. Last year we went to Newfound Gap, this year we headed to Cade's Cove & Cataloochee Valley. The beauty & sound of the rivers, streams, waterfalls & rapids is amazing. Cade's Cove is so tranquil.

The mountains are free. The views are awesome. There are hikes and trails you can follow. We drove through to the other side which is the Cherokee North Carolina. I wouldn't want to drive at night because the roads are dark. Love the Smokies.

The Smoky Mountains National Park is a fantastic park to hike in. There is no entrance fee due to a law preventing tolls on the roads through the park, there are a number of auto tours if you don't have time to hike, and there are ample opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Beautiful views if you want to drive or hike. Many 'pull over' spots to enjoy the view and take pictures. Picnic tables by creeks, and plenty of spots to get out and walk around. Black bears, deer, and other wild life are gorgeous.

The Smoky Mountain National park is our home away from home. We have been here several times and still have so much exploring to do. We love the waterfalls and the rangers are so nice and friendly and answered all of our questions. Will be returning in a few months...thanks again for making us feel welcome.

Ok, so this was a very unplanned outing on our spring break trip. This is a must! It's free! Family friendly! Worth the walking too. Visit the visitors center, then head up about two mile trail to see the first beautiful waterfalls. Great place to experience and take pictures. Then we headed to one of the highest points driving up the mountain. It was so misty, saw ice and it was freezing, but at the top we got to see over two states. Pretty cool that even this city girl is now a convert...believe the hype! These mountains are beautiful.

First time ever to GSMNP or any national park for that matter. Park was exceptionally busy for late winter I thought. We hiked trails, stopped at overlooks, went to visitor center. I was amazed at awesome views of mountains, streams, rivers, and forests. An experience I never will forget.
