Awesome sight! It was huge even from the freeway. Seeing the cross makes it seem that the trip across country is blessed in some way.

Driving highway 40/highway 66 (run along side each other) early morning darkness, saw flashing red lights from windmills and an eliminated cross. Pulled off 40 onto 66 and followed signs to gravel/dirt parking lot, no barricade or fence, you can just drive in. Before dawn the place was empty but everything was available to be seen and walked through (except the gifts shop and bathrooms) the large lights eliminating the 190' cross also make it possible to see everything around the place. Very impressive artwork all around! sculptures and the story of Christ. Especially impactful during early morning darkness and dawn. Nice concrete walking paths make for easy safe access for children and elderly. Would make a powerful place for educating children and for groups. Don't know how busy they are during peak season but the fact you can drive in at any time made it a special stop for us. Christ is always available. I would like to go back in the day to appreciate the artwork and take pictures, but the night time visit was an emotional powerhouse. Would make an excellent silent retreat stop especially for first time visitors and at sun set, as the sun would go down behind the crucifixion scene.

This is a great place for prayer and reflection. Every time we go home, we stop, and we can spend up to an hour or two without even thinking about it. You can see the cross up to 4 miles away - night or day. Very peaceful

A great surprise while driving cross country. You definitely get a surreal feeling walking around and seeing each stage as it would've happened, especially walking into the tomb. Phenomenal!!!

I was driving cross country on I-40 and saw the big white cross. Once I walked among the statues representing the stations of the cross, I felt so blessed. The gift shop also has something for everyone!

The detail on the bronze figurines was incredible. The memorial to the aborted babies was especially touching! The fountain with Jesus was beautiful. The tomb area & replica of the shroud were neat!

Travelers approaching Amarillo from the east will see a large Cross on the south side of I-40 near exit 114. This spectacular site is only a preview of what is to come for those who get off the interstate and take a closer look at The Cross at Groom. This is a great site to see and offers a reflection of suffering Jesus Christ endured to save mankind by taking on the sins of the world. I highly recommend stopping by or making a trip to Groom to see the site.

A year ago I went to see this with my dad. I thought it was inspiring and was amazed how close it was to I-40 for all those travelers to see the giant cross, and perhaps decide to come and search and see what was here. I liked it so much that a friend and I will be traveling in and around Texas, and I told her that we must go and visit this amazing place. I love the way scripture was interpreted through the bronze story of Christ. I also like the area where there is a memorial to the aborted babies.I recommend this place to anyone who loves the Lord Jesus Christ. It's free, but be sure to leave a donation or buy something from the gift store. Google and read the story about how this came about. Very interesting.I'll have to give another review later after the trip with my friend, to give her response.

We felt such a peace while visiting this small town in Texas. The sculptures were so intricate and the scriptures so uplifting.. The life, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ so beautiful in these sculptures. We encourage everyone traveling in this area to take a few minutes and let your troubles melt away in a time of prayer.

This place is amazing. We have been to the cross in Effingham, IL which is 8 feet taller but just does not have the same feeling as this one with its last supper, the empty tomb, Calvary, and shroud of Turin displays. This is a must see if you are driving I-40.

Yes, the cross is something to behold, but by far and large the main attraction here are the surrounding life sized sculptures of Jesus capturing the scenes from the bible leading up to his crucifixion. You find yourself holding back tears as you make your way through the area. There is also a large fountain leading to a bookstore where there are ample Christian items for purchase. They also sell cold bottled water and have restrooms available. I am so grateful that I made a point to visit this area during a recent trip across the US, and it will forever be remembered.

Driving on the route 66 in Texas from the east side, we passed Groom. After we're saw a leaning water tower, the giant cross was an eye-catcher from miles away so we decided to take a look. Surrounding the base of the cross are the fourteen Stations of the Cross. Also include was the Last Supper, a Golgatha reenactment with all three crosses erected on a hill as well as an empty tomb with the stone rolled away. It's worth it to take a visit when you are in the neighbourhood

While visiting her sister, my wife learned from her that somewhere along the interstate highway in Texas you pass this very large cross. My wife, the good church-goer that she is, was interested. So, a few days later, as we headed eastward along I-40, the cross came into view. It was indeed huge. Supposedly on a clear day it can be seen up to 20 miles away. So, at the Groom exit, we pulled off. Even an agnostic such as I can be impressed. It is a Catholic facility, and includes larger-than-life stations of the cross, the empty tomb and more. Toward the center rear is a waterfall, and on the left a gift shop. There are ample benches throughout the park, which is all I can think to call it, for sitting and meditating, as well as a tiny chapel. Considering it was an early morning in late May and off the interstate, there were a number of people visiting. If you are religious, especially if you are Catholic, you will be glad you stopped.

One of the most emotional moments of my life. This is a must see for Christians and those who want to know the story of Christ. The work put into this is amazing! Only takes about thirty minutes to see, but we were there for better than an hour. Left there with an enormous lump in my throat. Took several pictures, too.

We made a slight detour from route 66 to see the Giant Cross. We hadn’t realised that the cross was the centre piece of what seemed to be the richest church in the world. The surrounding housing was pretty run down, but this church was an oasis of wealth with a mini waterfall outside and two brand new minibuses in the car park. It was a very impressive set up.It was so quiet and peaceful we felt like we were intruding.
