st. louis symphony orchestra

St. Louis is very fortunate to have such a talented and accessible symphony at its disposal! I haven't been in a while, yet have always enjoyed myself, even though classical isn't what I listen to on my iPod!Powell Symphony Hall is absolutely gorgeous and the acoustics are very good. If you haven't been in a while, or classical isn't your go-to music style, go anyway! It's a great experience.

The soloists were fantastic, the conductor is enthusiastic, and the theatre is sublime. It was a great experience.

One of the great benefits of the SLSO is their willingness to present alternative entertainment options on their audiences. I loved the incredible presentation of the symphony, its chorus and soloist of the music to the movie Gladiator.

Steven Jarvi has a great rapport with the audience and obviously with his orchestra. We attended the Macy's Holiday Celebration and the chorus, soloist and orchestra were outstanding. Even if they were so-so, seeing them in Powell Hall decorated for Christmas would make it seem wonderful. If you get an opportunity to go, don't miss it.

This is a world class symphony orchestra. The city should be proud to have them. Definitely go hear them if you have the evening available.

While searching things to do in St. Louis on TripAdvisor I found out about a free admission Chamber Music Concert at the Powell.The place is fantastic and the music by Anne Fagerburg - cello - Patti Wolf - piano- and Erin Schreiber - violin- was outstanding. incredible. At the end they even offered us wine. This is my best experience in St. Louis.

We had the best experience at the symphony. Go if you have the chance. I have been to a lot of shows and it was just perfect.

We are absolutely amazed every time we hear this group... How can such incredible musicians committ to living so far from NYC? We are glad they did!

Beautiful music in a beautiful and historic space with enough variety to appeal to the whole family! Whether you live in Saint Louis or are visiting for a short time, don't miss a trip to Powell Hall. I suppose the phrase "Live at Powell Hall" is usually pronounced with a long letter i, but I like to substitute a short i, since I seldom feel happier and more alive than I do there.

we went and saw the movie "gladiator" at the symphony....wonderful wonderful time..made the movie even more alive than it was....made it big very big....probably the longest standing ovation I have participated in..just fabuolos

I've had family series concert season tickets since they started the program. It is GREAT. I do wish they'd make an announcement that "sure it is ok if your kids make some noise but if they get out of hand, please take them into the lobby" - last concert, some kids got to screaming/crying and I was like "get them out of here!"... I don't mind the little noises - it is the ongoing crying... parents should know better.

St Louis has a cultural gem in the orchestra. A busy 9 month season. Lovely concert hall. A varied concert schedule. Try it!

Went to the symphony on 10/10/14 with my 2 daughters. One of the daughters needed to go for a college music assignment. We really enjoyed the symphony.
