Just completed a two week stay at Bryn Mawr College for an intensive CelloSpeak event. There were about 60 of us amateur and professional cellists. We stayed in the dorm at Rhodes Hall and ate in the cafeteria. We had access to the olympic pool, the gym, and wonderful rehearsal halls and an incredible Great Hall for final concerts. This was an amazing place in every way. I was anxious about hot and humid weather in the summer. No worries. The air conditioning was great. The beds were fine. The shared showers have little dressing rooms and were just fine. There is a kitchen at each hallway. Yes...this is dormitory living, and yes it is old, but it is fun and it is perfect. I know that some people had trouble adjusting their AC and keeping out the light from the hallway in their transom. I had no such problems. I slept fine every night. The WIFI is available for a small fee and I hooked up all my gadets...laptop, IPAD, IPhone so I could keep up with my work as an online teacher while I was attending this conference. I would be remiss if I did not discuss the quality of the food and the staff. This is an easy - very easy place for excellent vegetarian dining. Every meal had bountiful fresh fruits. Lunch and supper had a salad bar unequaled even in some pretty fine restaurants. They had tofu, artichokes, and quinoa at every meal. Cottage cheese bar and Greek yogurt were available. The coffee was excellent. Homemade soups. And...Blue Bunny ice cream bars in a freezer of all flavors...just help yourself. Far too tempting. The staff went out of their way to assure our comfort. They became our friends. Finally - the towel thing got me really spoiled. This is how it works. You are given fresh towels upon arrival. Pretty nice ones too. Then after you use them you put them outside your door. Fresh ones magically appear in a little plastic bag. How great is that! Like a fine hotel and I really do like luxury. The elevators worked fine so we did not need to haul our cellos up and down stairs to rehearsals and classes. In summary - I highly recommend booking this event center for a conference. It was excellent for us in every way!http://www.brynmawr.edu/conferences/

Each year, for 6 or 7 years, I enjoyed talking to staff and surveying college buildings which needed upgrades. It was lovely to integrate work and pleasure. BMC has a great campus with serious studies taking place in a modest, relaxed, purposeful way, so efforts were challenging and rewarding. I think this intellectual lifestyle is now rare: it is a beautiful memory for me in my life as an architect and interior designer. Barbara Ruth

I have lived across the street from the campus for 27 yrs., and every times i walk thru it I see something new. There I times I truly believe I am in Europe. side from the fabulous architecturethe landscaping and historic trees are amazing, don't miss the copper beach trees.

Pleasant to walk around, gorgeous Collegiate Gothic buildings plus one "designed as a modern Scottish castle by renowned architect Louis Kahn". Exciting, international student body.

Great great school in our neck of the woods. Very high academic standards. Tough to get into. A girls only school. Shares classes with Haverford and Swarthmore. Awesome campus with old style buildings.

A great lunch place. Mostly women, inexpensive, good basic food, quiet place for conversation. Hard to find parking.

Great reputation. Good intellectual climate. Nice grounds. A good place for a walk or even a bike ride.

I used to do consulting work for the college and enjoyed visiting the campus. The school has a long standing reputation as an educational institution. (About 10 years ago the daughter of a friend of mine was warned that it is a bastion of radical lesbianism. I have no was of verifying this, but if you are thinking of attending you may want to check this out.)

A unique, rigorous and prestigious women's college. Beautiful campus, as always. Lovely weekend!

Easily accessible from the R5 train out of Philadelphia.  Along with the college there are great shops, restaurants and a great  Bryn Mawr Film Institute, showing rare films and documenaries

It's beautiful, in a gorgeous area...and wonderful if somewhat limited if limited education

It's a college campus. A few nice buildings, but not much to appeal. Better ... to into Bryn Mawr proper ... the traffic circle at the commuter train station and eat really good Greek food at Lourdas Taverna ... BYOB.
