This is a small museum dedicated to inter urban rail travel. There are some great cars to look at, climb on, and explore. The old advertisements are very fun and interesting to look at. We were treated to a 40 minute ride on a restored trolley car through beautiful farmland and a really interesting up close view of a working wind farm. The trolley ride was included in the $10 admission fee. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

If you are a fan of railway cars you will love this place. They have all electric cars and a wide variety of them to check out.

We went here to escape the big game on TV. It was a good choice. The Museum is located on California Highway 12 half way between Rio Vista and Fairfield and next to a giant wind farm. Which is appropriate since all the trollies run on electricity. The Visitors Center contains the mandatory gift shop and a wonderful display about wind energy. We started our tour with a 15-minute street car ride in a nearly 100-year old street car. From there we joined a guided tour of one of the car barns where we saw and learned about street car and inter urban technology of the last 100+ years. We were getting hungry so we had a hotdog at the little cafe before taking another street car ride. We ended our day with a 45-minute ride in an Interurban Car to the end of the line and back.We had a wonderful time and will go back in the spring for a Wild Flower Special. The children we saw there were enjoying the car rides.

This is a great hands on RR museum with excursion rides through the Jepsen Prairie. The ride is scenic and fun for kids

Took my grandchildren there and had a wonderful time. I also took them to the annual pumpkin patch last year and they didn't want to go home.

For a final Summer Fling we went to the Railway Museum and had a great day. The weather was unusually cool, and we made a day of it by riding the train twice, with a picnic lunch in between trips. We had not been here for about 20 years, and it is VERY nice now. The Museum has special events throughout the year. In October they have a Pumpkin Patch on the last 3 Saturdays. You take the train to the Gum Grove, have fun, buy pumpkins, and ride back. They also have a Spring Wild Flower ride that we plan to go on in 2015. The property is nicely laid out with Displays, Gift Shop, Snack Bar, and Restrooms. It is quite a step or two up into most of the cars, so keep that in mind. The property is easily accessed by strollers, etc., but it is a wooden walkway right at the loading platform. This is a really overlooked gem, and east to get to.

This museum has a nice variety of old trolley and interurban rolling stock. It will bring back memories for old timers and educate the younger generation about historical rail passenger transportation. The one hour interurban ride through a landscape that could be 100 years old (except for the large windmills) is peaceful and educational. The gift shop has rail oriented toys for children.

This is a really fun place to visit if you are in the area. It is off the beaten path but well worth the drive. Take the hour long train ride. It is informative and you really get a sense of history going through the yellow fields of grain. Please leave a donation. It is the right thing to do!

Western Railway Museum is our favorite place around Halloween with the grandkids. We take the train to the pumpkin patch where the kids can have fun in around a pyramid made of hay. There is a hay ride, pumpkin tossing, pony rides, and a petting zoo. Bring your own food or enjoy what different organizations have to offer. It has always been fun!

Enjoyable afternoon, reasonably priced for a step back in time. Well done to the volunteers for keeping the interest going. Nice relaxing car ride is well worth it.

The museum itself is not spectacular, there is a few large electric trins to go through. The photo history of the area is rather interesting. What makes it a fun couple of hours is the restored large Electric train ride out into the countryside and then back. It is an enjoyable few hours that can be spent at the museum.

Great hands on museum of old RR cars, engines and trackage. A few miles from Suisun City on Hwy 12. Beautiful coach cars, velveteen seats, beautiful lamps, a fabulous reminder of what was.

I think this is a great place for someone who is really into trains/trams or into the history of the places in that part of CA (the extended Bay Area, if you will) that had trams at one point. We were in the second category and loved seeing the old Key Line cars (we live in Oakland), and we found (and bought) a book with the history and lots of photos of the trams in Oakland. That said, I'm not sure this is worth the detour for someone who does not fit into either of these categories. It's a bit out of the way, there isn't that much to see, and the hour-long tram ride through that part of CA isn't terribly interesting. So bottom line, we loved it, but don't see that it would be that interesting to the "average" tourist.

We visited the Western Railway Museum for the first time. We have lived nearby for over fifteen years and are glad we finally made it out there. The book store is a must for any train lover. I have never seen so many books about trains from past to present. The museum is small, but full of interesting pictures of the bay area from the 40's. Although small, we did spend a lot of time in there looking at everything. They have a barn full of train cars from around the US. You can explore while you wait for your train ride. The train/trolly you ride is over 100 years old, is made of wood and full of character. You ride out for a half an hour and literally turn your seats around and return to the station. If you pack a lunch, they have a nice picnic area past the train station with picnic tables and full shade. It was a lot of fun. The whole family enjoyed it. We will be going back.
