Came with a group and they accommodated us pretty well. Lovely facilities and a really fun place to spend time. As we had a group we ended up not going through normal tasting ritual, but as we were buying wine for group and picnic outside, they were very generous in letting us taste their wines prior to purchase. Wines were a bit pricey, $30-60ish, but really the highest quality and we did get discount as we purchased well over four bottle requirement for discount. Superb reds and whites offered and some really awesome blends. They gave us glasses to use for picnic which was also nice. Would definitely consider again for individual or group tasting. Plenty of parking and even handicapped parking available.

We made an unplanned stop while traveling through Livermore and were pleasantly surprised. I was curious about the history of the Well itself and didn't exact much from the winery. Established at the site of a spring frequented by Joaquin Murrieta, an early California bandit or Robin Hood depending on your point of view and housed in the original late 1800's poured concrete building, the winery produces some very good wines. The founders were French immigrants and the wife knew the owners of the Chateaux d'Yquem and Margaux, two of the premier Bordeaux wineries. Obtaining rootstock from these vineyards, they planted grapes and began producing wines in the 1880's. The Concannons and Wentes ere neighbors also producing wines and ultimately Murrieta's Well was bought by Wente but operates independently. We particularly liked the Cab Franc and Zarzuela, a Portuguese varietal. The Muscat Canelli was surprising good as was their White Meritage even though our preferences are for red. Jacob who was knowledgeable and very pleasant was our server but unfortunately he has taken a job with a local police department and will only be gone by late January 2015. Give it a try if you're in the area. Better and a nicer atmosphere than some of the larger wineries nearby.

One of my best friends just had a wedding here. It was the perfect venue: a beautiful location with the vines, the old style provencial building, and the amazing wine that Murietta's Well has to offer. The ceremony was outside with the reception in the old wine cave underneath the tasting room. I highly recommend this venue not only for weddings or events but also to just drop by for a wine tasting. I'm a red wine drinker but I fell in love with The Whip, a white blend.

This is a great little tasting room, very busy early Saturday morning. The servers were very knowledgable about their products and the interesting history of the property.

A group of friends and I went to Murietta's Well Winery last weekend for my birthday. We had called ahead to warn that we were a big group, not expecting any special arrangements, rather to warn the tasting room staff ahead of time that it would be a busy day. When we arrived, we were beyond impressed to find a private tasting area set up for us outside with a birthday welcome sign all set up. Anastasia hosted our party and was just lovely! She was so sweet and great at managing the large group and keeping us on schedule. All the wines that we tasted were fabulous (we loved the Malbec!)-- we ended up taking several home. And after the tasting we enjoyed our picnic lunch at several of the many tables available outside. This was my second visit and both have been just fabulous! My friends and I hope to return very soon!

We have visited this winery several times of the years. It is very cute and rustic. The driveway into the winery is a bit deceiving, just follow the signs. Many people visit on bike trips around Livermore. The history of this winery dates back to the 1850's when Murietta discovered an artesian well on the property! The winery is noted for its estate blends - The Whip and The Spur. My husband is partial to The Spur. Small lot wines are also featured that can only be purchased at the winery. Our favorite is Los Tesoros Cabernet Franc. This winery has family ties to Wente and sometimes offers discounts to Wente entertainment members. There is also a wine "passport" that offers a $25 discount on a $50 purchase after being stamped by three Wente associated wineries (read details on "passport" flier). There are tables and chairs outside where many people enjoy some of the wine they have purchased. The winery also has wedding and party venues and other happenings.
