This place has really good wines. When we went they were tasting their red wines. I don't think there was one wine I did not like. Price of a bottle at the winery was no more than $20. Which is great compared to other wineries. Their location is not that charming or has a great view. But their customer service is great and they are vet passionate about their wines and explain how the wine was made and the grapes used along with the taste. I will definitely be going back the next time I visit Livermore. A must if you do some tasting there.

Sadly they aren't in their old location. However, if you just want to taste wine and get an ultra friendly staff this is the place to go. Unfortunately the winery is now is a rather drab warehouse location. However, that said, we were greeted with love and they opened up prior to the official time. The owner even took me back into their warehouse for a private tour.

I have always been impressed with the selection and quality of the wines at Thomas Coyne Winery. The blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mouvédre and Petite Sirah in the Quest is my favorite; although I also liked, the rarely seen, Petite Verdot. I had the 2010 Petite Verdot and loved it's strong oak finish. We will miss the old location, but it won't stop us from visiting the winery.

I am definitely sad to see they are moving the location of the winery. Amazing old Livermore ranch has history that money cannot buy. In the midst of all the big money operations it is nice to visit a true local location with history. Good wines not over the top, but they are a much better value than the rest of the valley wines.

I was greatly surprised by this experience...A dirt road leads you to a fair parking lot, but the wine tasting "room" (if you can call it that) was occupied by a jewelry display on one side (and believe me, they could have used the room far better for sitting/benches, wine display...what a waste) The wine bar was about 6 ft. long and, well, I waited 10 minutes and still wasn't served so I left...Needless to say? Service isn't their strong suit overall and the logistics of this wine "room" are very, very inadequate. I live locally and visit wineries regularly from San Diego to Mendocino...Rather disappointed. I guess however, every experience can't be a sterling one! Their actual "place" for wine tasting is outside this barnlike structure in the hot sun with no real shade. Really?!

Coyne is a small winery, tucked away behind a home, not at all visible from the road. They make a variety of wines, and taste certain ones on certain days. We were there when they were tasting the Bordeaux varietals, unfortunate because we are more into the Rhone varietals. The wines were OK (but again, not quite to our taste). The one white we tried didn't impress us all that much. The staff was quite engaging, and shared some insights into the wines. They also noted that in the near future the tasting room will be moving, so check their web site to get an update. An important issue for us is that the winery be kid friendly as we have a 12 year old. Some other wineries are more kid friendly, but at least the staff engaged her in conversation and she didn't feel too out of place.

We've been going to the winery for almost 19 years. Tom makes consistently good wines including a broad variety of interesting varietals.

My wife and I were driving back home from a quick tasting session at Wente and were looking for another quick half-hour tasting stop. We stopped here and glad that we did. The tasting room was a simple barn like structure with a short counter. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, grapes, and wines. The best part was the wines - we loved almost all of the wines offered for tasting and ended up buying a lot of bottles. The port they had up for tasting was one of the best I have tasted - bought a case of that!I also like rustic ambience of the place, The tasting area has some basic picnic table/chair outside from where you can see nice view of vineyards. After visiting the winery, I saw some reviews on the net pointing to their display of Penn State/Joe Paterno paraphernalia. I remember seeing Penn State but don't recall seeing any Joe Paterno references. I will not yet factor that into my review until I check out the place again myself.

I played in the 2012 Tri-Valley Memorial Charity Golf Tournament and Thomas Coyne wine was served on one of the holes as a sponsor. It was sooooo delicious. Our foursome wanted to stay and enjoy our wine so much that we actually offered the foursome behind us to play through. The problem with that was they wanted to enjoy the fabulous wine too.

As we drove up the winding drive through the vineyard in Livermore valley to the wine tasting room at the top of the hill, we wondered if we would ever get there. But once on top of the hill, we spent some time just taking photos of the equipment and buildings that used to be part of French vineyard and winery. Then we walked up to the tasting room and had some complimentary tastings of some very good wines. The ladies there visited with us and told us about the wines as we sipped. We even broke our own rule of one bottle per winery there and bought 3 bottles! I think we may even enlarge a few pictures and frame them when we get home. Don’t dismiss these small wineries, they are some of the best finds!

Thomas Coyne is our favorite winery. It's friendly and unpretentious, in an old barn. We've taken many of our out of town family and friends, and everyone loves it! We take a picnic lunch from a nearby deli, buy some wine and sit out at the tables with a view of the surrounding vineyards. One time we saw deer running through the vineyard! The vintners, as you can imagine, were less than thrilled about that, but it was an exciting bit of entertainment! Their wines are yummy! And they don't charge tasting fees.

I like the sweet choices here. The help is wonderful and the view is "Wine country" like. Small barn tasting room. Friendly staff. Nice bottles too. Go back again kind-a-place. Enjoy!
