I love taking hikes through these trails especially in the fall, It's definitely one of my favorite seasons. It's a plus that the park relatively close to the downtown area of Lincoln I don't need to go to far to "get away from it all" My fiance and I love to go cross country skiing on the trails in the winter, the scenery is forever changing through out the seasons!
Been here a few times now in various seasons. It's neat to have a relatively wild area so close to the center of Lincoln -- wish it was bigger! Lots to see just taking a nice stroll along the hiking trails. It'd be nice if there were benches every mile or so, and if bikers would stay off the hiking trails.
Wilderness Park is a great place to stroll through nature. YOu can take a short trip or the entire day hiking in the woods viewing birds, deer and other wildlife.
I love taking the dogs on hikes at Wilderness Park. The trails are well-marked and well-trodden, but keep a sharp eye out for bicyclists - they seem to appear from nowhere and with no warning. The trails are marked for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders, and I think people pretty much mind the signs. There are folks who will let their dogs run off-leash (and shouldn't), so keep a lookout for them!
Nice trails for the single track bikers and OK place to run but it is wilderness you may see deer and turkeys or find frames discarded from stolen bikes. To bad they don't clear out some sections into more family friendly park areas. Interesting place to run with friends a bit scary to go alone.
Wilderness Park is literally off the beaten path. Take the name of it a bit literally. Not the curated paths you might see in some parks. But lovely, nature!
Wildneress has a multi-use trail system for bikers, walkers/runners and equestrian to share. The trails are all singletrack and great for beginning mountian bikers.. It's great having such a large wilderness area so close to Lincoln.
We were looking for a place to walk with our dog and found this place on the map. It was on the opposite side of town from our motel, but Lincoln is small so it did not take long to find. Nice trails in a real woods setting.
The trail is used for biking and walking/running. Super easy singletrack with one or two quick drops, but mainly flat and flowy, with some roots here and there.
This park saves my sanity on a weekly basis. Extensive hiking, biking, and equestrian trails. Great for shorter trips or all day excursions. It's not a manicured area....so bring bug spray and proper footware. Be courteous to all types of users so we can keep sharing.
