Thank you for visiting, and for providing us with feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your visit to our secluded, peaceful sanctuary.

Thank you for your feedback! We love hearing from our guests. We take great pride in enriching our animals lives such as providing exercise to our cheetahs which are built to run and giving strawberries to our desert tortoises - not to mention it is great fun to watch! I am glad to hear you enjoyed your visit.

this is an animal rehabilitation center for wild animals, some from zoos, some from homes that could not keep them any longer. As I understand it they come here mostly as a foster home until better accomodations can be found. The animals look comfortable and well fed and you can get really close to them without being in any danger.

I went to Animal Ark with my boyfriend last Spring when I was in town and I had such a great time. It is so neat to see a place that only has injured, rehabbed/releasable animals. It was so neat to read each animal's story of how they came to Animal Ark. While there, some of the keepers did a presentation in the wolf exhibit which I thoroughly enjoyed. Great little place, takes a big of a hike to get there, but I think its more than worth it! I feel that people of nearly any age could enjoy and appreciate a place like this.

It is a teriffic place to visit if you like wild animals. They save injured, wild animals kept as pets, animals that can't be returned to state of origin, etc. It is a lot of walking on mostly dirt and a large place so that the animals have a lot of room. There are resting places along the way and you can take your time. Nice restrooms with changing table. You can use a wheelchair or stroller (our granddaughter age 2 in stroller wasn't bothered by the bumpy ride. it was windy, but not hot the day we were there.

A fantastic place that has a true heart for wild animal rescue. We adopted two animals and continue to support their efforts.

The Animal Ark is north of Reno. The founders of Animal Ark has build a first class sanctuary for animals that are either endangered or cannot be returned to the wild.It is very educational and interesting. The setting is beautiful. They have a "cheetah run" several times a year that I would still like to see. It is a fundraiser and very unique. It is not open in the winter.

Its a nice place to go and see wild animals. It's not like a zoo in a big city but still worth checking out.

It IS a longish drive and some on dirt road but the journey is worth it. We went for my Grandson's 4th Birthday, all first time visitors a bit unsure what to expect. It is quite a complex, besides the animals, there is a playground with shaded picnic areas and demonstrations on solar and wind power. The animals were somewhat active and fun to observe in their habitats from nice enclosures for the human guests. We even saw the cheetahs up close which is rare in my zoo visiting experiences. Adults will enjoy reading each animals story of how they came to the Ark and the kids enjoy it all.

Not very far from downtown Reno and probably the only facility in local neighborhood. We visited on a Harvest Festival day (Oct 18th) and the animals were given their favorite treats hidden in pumpkins. Was great to see them open their gifts and enjoy the food :) A gift shop and slides for children are also good plus

This is an animal sanctuary northwest of downtown Reno off of Highway 395. The staff there is extremely well versed and friendly and dedicated to the well being of the animals. This is not a zoo, but an animal sanctuary where many of the inhabitants will live out their lives as they cannot survive in the wild. If you care about animals, stop by and see them for yourself. A donation will help care for these and other animals in the future. The entrance fee is less than $10 per person and there is a nice little gift shop inside the office building. It is a bit hilly so there is some walking. Golf carts are available for those that can't get around easily.

We really enjoyed our day. It was wonderful to see all the animals. I would recommended anyone to got there. If you can see the cheetah's run.

This is not a zoo but a sanctuary for animals with nowhere else to go. Situated on a hillside the layout is spacious with good views in addition to seeing some animals actual zoos rarely have. personal favorite were the cheetahs who were active. Best to come at opening time before heat gets to animals and you. Many smiles and worthy of your support.

Be sure to plan your visit at this place when they feed the bears. You get to see up close what and how the bear eats it's food. Besides the bears, there are many animals and birds that are in well kept cages and pens. This is a self guided animal farm and it's worth the price of admission which operates by donations. Lions, tigers, cheetah, hogs, birds of various types etc. One warning I would like to pass on is that once off the main highway the next mile to the Ark is a washboard road. Take it slow and it'll be fine. They have a picnic area so pack a lunch and enjoy your day there.
