Four of us went near the end of the refuge's open hours and the staff welcomed us to stay as we needed to. Agree with previous posts that this is a smaller refuge and yet very worthwhile with the various animals present. You walk on a raised platform over the cages, etc and we found a number of the animals active. Believe this to be a very worthwhile activity for young children and the admission of 4.28 for adults and less for children is nice.

I highly recommend the refuge. There is a great collection of loved animals, kept in a natural setting. The visitors walk through the park on a raised walkway to observe. Bears, otters, panthers, raccons, owls, and more. Plus tons of black vultures and one house cat. Check this place out.

Hidden in Pioneer Park we found it by accident having seen a sign from the museum car park. Admission is a reasonable $4.28 for adults and half that for kids.Once inside viewing is done from a raised boardwalk. Informative posters about each animal are availabe near the cages. Turtles, a bear, foxes, ostriches, alligators, a tortoise, bob cats, racoons and others are on display. As is normal most of them are inactive during the warm florida day but we got to see them all during the course of two laps of the boardwalk.Enjoyable way to pass an hour or so and excellent value compared to the costs of some small zoos.

Thanks to Tripadvisor, we found out about this little hidden gem. The price of admission is ridiculously cheap (less than $5) and we spent about an hour there. They have roughly a dozen animal enclosures ranging from mountain lions, black bears, otters, owls, ostrich and more. The animals looked like they were well taken care of with good size enclosures. The boardwalk is in great condition, and it really feels like nature in many of the areas. My only suggestion is to have some more personal information about the animals posted. What are their names? Why are they here? Why can't they be released? What's their history? They have a lot of general information about the different species, but it'd be great to get to know the residents a bit better.

Looking at wildlife in their natural habitat from the boardwalk. I was able to take pictures of wildlife animals. Would recommend this wildlife adventure.
