Some years ago I travelled 50 miles to see The Iron Bridge on a summer's day. It was well worth the drive. I have been back to Ironbridge many times since then and always admire the bridge. Apart from the bridge itself there is a lot to see in the area with interesting museums, teashops and some decent pubs. The place is full of history and a weekend would not be long enough to enjoy all the delights of Ironbridge. The Iron Bridge is the star attraction but the scenery takes a lot of beating also!

It is a truly historic and beautiful bridge that was the first to use iron for the structure. There are many places to go for afternoon tea too!

There is an original sign up high on the wall of the toll house showing the cost of taking sheep etc over the bridge, well worth a read. The bridge is a fantastic piece of engineering.Well worth a trip over the bridge

Spent a whole day at the Victorian village, thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were brilliant, we were lucky enough to go on a Monday when there weren't so many there except one coach and a couple of school trips so could ask lots of questions and have a good look round. Would recommend this trip to anyone of any age - there's something for everyone.

This is for anyone who likes a simple visit just to see the engineering and the history of this bridge. You need to allow time to walk under the bridge and of course to walk over it.

A co-worker, showing off his homeland, brought me here after work one day. (I was visiting form the US). I very much enjoyed the historical aspects as well as the view. Amazing what they were able to accomplish without the benefits of modern equipment.

If you are interested in history and old Technology then the Ironbridge is for you.Built in 1779 I think it was the first cast iron bridge in the world.Follow this up by going to the Victorian Village where the whole iron smelting industry is explained.A good day out but pricey in my opinion.

It was a lovely sunny day when we visited the bridge and toll house having studied it many years ago in History lessons it was great at last to finally see the bridge and toll house. The toll house had lots of useful information on the bridge and area. It was well worth the visit, we will be back.

This was a little out of the way for us but well worth the extra effort. Free to cross the bridge and get the best views of the river and town, which has several attractions, including an indoor antiques market, a great pie shop and various attractive old buildings.

As a resident of this area for a lot of Years, I can remember when the real residents of Iron bridge were real. They lived in fear of landslip and expected flooding. They couldn’t move as no-one would buy the houses due to the threats already mentioned. Then it became a World Heritage site. Property prices ballooned and all the the shops (with a few exceptions) became B&B’s or very expensive eateries. By all means go there. Don’t use your own transport as there is nowhere to park and take out a bank-loan if you intend to buy anything.

I had spoken to someone in the morning at my hotel that it was a bit of an anti-climax visiting the bridge. However, seeing as I was in the area I still thought that I'd like to see it.I actually walked all the way from Telford to Iron Bridge and back to see the bridge. So I put a lot of effort into this visit. Was it worth it? Yes it was. The bridge was a lot smaller that I imagined but the actual structure was amazing. It actually looked over engineered to me but this was a ground breaking bridge.Iron Bridge itself is also a lovely little place to visit and I think that it helped being out of season. I can imagine that in the holidays the place is packed. The best news is that English Heritage is responsible for the bridge and that it is free to visit. So you don't have to visit a tacky tourist attraction to see our industrial heritage.

This is such a lovely little place to visit. The remarkable structure of the Ironbridge itself is set in georgous surroundings. The river severn flows quietly below and the small shops and cafes set the scene so well. This is such a great example of Britiain in the past. There are many related attractions neaarby, but you need a good few days to see everything at leisure.
