We visited in March, when the open air museum was closed. This didn't stop us - we could still walk around and we loved looking at all the incredible buildings and seeing lots of red squirrels! And best of all it was free! If you like exploring - turn right at the beginning of the bridge (heading towards the island) and go down a dirt track and across a ricketty bridge. There's an amazing little iron age trading place that we almost missed!

This place has been one of our favorite. There is ample space for a nice stroll in the afternoon. The historic buildings add to the ambience. One can find ducks walking around, squirrels nibbling food you throw, etc. This gives a feel of being in touch with Nature. It has a calm and serene atmosphere to visit and relax.

Seurassari island it's a very beautiful island, but I think it's better to visit in summer when all the open spaces of the island are green and it's possible to make a picnic. It's a mandatory place to see in Helsinki.

I usually walk my dogs around the island. Takes about an hour. Wooden buildings are awesome. There's usually a fire at a small kiosk, where you can grill sausages. In winter they have nearby also the round sledge. Interesting place with Finnish history

Lot of old countryhouses, from different places in Finland. Be careful with your icecreams :) Birds likeicecream too.

Seurasaari is a great place to go for a walk, especially around Christmas time, as there are loads of activities in the island and you might be able to walk the ice path that leads there, if the weather permits. If not, loads of friendly squirrels and birds will come to your hand for a seed in exchange =)

Nice and quiet. Perfect for a walk or a picnic during summer... Nice outdoor museum. Squirrels everywhere!

Most people consider it number 1 place to visit in Helsinki but not me. It is a beautiful island, lots of trees and nice places to sunbathe during summer. Sometimes there are programs going on and those times it surely more interesting. There is open air museum but that costs.

I have been to Seurasaari Island last year (2014) with my family. It was mid autumn and there weren't no one in the island. If you do not like places where there is no crowds, please, stay way from Seurasaari. But if you are like me, who adore desolated places, it will be a pleasant visit, for sure. Seeing the old constructions where the Finnish people lived in the ancient times is an wonderful experience.

One of my favorites places in Helsinki. Perfect for a walk or for a barbecue during summer. Warmly suggested to go there to relax and enjoy nature close to the city.

An open air museum in the midst of the city. An absolute marvel for the locals. Great place for a day out in the nature. Easy and free access. Lotsa places to sit, relax and enjoy, either alone or with a group of friends. Tiny beaches and places to swim and BBQ.

Go at dawn , when the light is very special. The ferries from Helsinki are very frequent and cheap. The views back at Helsinki are every good. Interesting for photographers.

A beautiful way to while away a few hours. Very snowy when we went and nothing open, but I'm sure in the summer there would be. Definitely worth a visit.

The place is usually popular during the summer when the place is green and the sun is shining and place is fully open.I went on a saturday in November so almost everything was closed and it was pretty dark but luckily there was snow all over as it had snowed a day before. The place looked wonderful laden in white. The crimson berries looked magical. The historic buildings were closed but looked right off the past standing in clean white snow. The little lake near the play ground was frozen. A great place for a good 3 hour walk and take pictures. Loads of birds around too. There is a small cafe that serves some lovely little buns, pies, breads, coffee, tea and, the thing that felt perfect after the walk through the snow, a big hot cup of strawberry juice. The place is well connected from Kamppi by bus. There is one every 20 minutes or so.

This is a good place to spend some time outdoors walking in nature even if is so close to the centre. There are many old log buildings and it is an out-door museum, too. Great place to visit almost any time of the year. A great picnic during summer. Always windy.
