There is various sections of the wall you can visit and we visited part of the wall where it cost €3 per person to visit. You have to climb a metal spiral staircase to reach the walk. You do not get a fantastic view of the town from the section we visited, but you do get to see the rooftops of building and a look down some streets from higher up. It's not an attraction you need to go out the way for to do at the part we visited.

Its a shame there aren't more sections of the wall that can be walked as the views are fantastic, what is there is very good

As you are heading up or down from the Toompea Hill area to the Olde Towne (or visa versa) this cobblestone street is lined with artists and their works and handicrafts. The wall continues around the olde city with towers scattered defensively around. Several gates allow entry to and through this ancient bastion. This fantastic structure dominates the cities skyline.

We did not walk along the wall but viewed it from down below. What a great piece of history. The towers from what I think is the west side were very picturesque and there is a nice park outside the walls. It is definitely worth walking around the town for the views.

I loved seeing the whole of Tallin from this vantage point. You feel a little bit that you have stepped back in time with the cobblestone street. At night you will definitely get some great pictures!

We accessed the walls at Muurivahe close to the Viru Gate. There is a small charge but access is free to Tallinn Card holders - the latter is one of Tallinn's BIG BARGAINS! It is possible to walk along the walls to gain excellent panoramas of the Old Town and Toompea Hill - also to imagine life as a medieval soldier. The Muurivahe alleyway contains several good value tourist shops and outdoor stalls selling locally produced knitwear.

Tallinn can easily boast one of the finest and best preserved medieval town walls in Europe. It stretches for almost 2km with 4 main gateways and 20 fairytale turrets along the way. Some of the towers are costly tourist traps, other sections are more authentic. There are two main sections you can walk along. One in the east links Viru Gate with Helleman Tower and runs along Müürivahe St. This costs €3 and includes a small museum in the tower. On the opposite side of town, another section links 3 towers and costs just €1.50. Enter at Nunnatorn (Nun's Tower) and walk along to Sauna and Kuldjala Towers. Elsewhere in town, other towers have been converted into museums. Fat Margaret is the Maritime Museum €5, Kiek in de Kok Bastion Museum €4.50 and Epping Tower €4 where you can try on suits of armour.

You really feel the medieval characteristics of Tallinn when you see these fortifications and the cone shaped turrets. You get a great view of the city from the perch, good photo opportunity.

The city wall is surprisingly well preserved (and restored, for some parts). You can walk on them and get a very nice view on all the city (at least near the Viru gates). Some explaning signs indicate what you can see from the point where you stand.

some good views over the city and a couple of information points along the wall (not a huge amount but if your just curious its all you need) stairs are quite steep in parts and spiraling, but you wouldn't expect any more from an old tower

The town wall is like a silent security guard of the city. Very majestic and romantic at the same time. The most I prefer the place where several artists have put their paintings.

You can go inside the walls and walk along a section of it. Very well preserved part of meieval Tallinn

The gardens outside the town wall had an exhibition of garden designs which was free to visit and really good.

Tufty57

you have to pay entrance to climb each section so it can get a bit pricey, just do one bit! prices from 1.5 to 3 euros each

I climbed the town wall in two places. One (near the sweater sellers) allows you to walk along the wall for quite a distance for about a Euro. The other, was up the top of the Short Leg, where you can get a coffee or hot wine sitting at a little table on the top of the wall, under the roof, looking down on the Court of the Danish King and enjoying the views.
