It may be one of the best places in Dresden to go up and get that 'city shot'. Especially during the Christmas period, you can see the Striezelmarkt from the viewing platform. Definitely worth the visit!

It is nice church without any decoration. The view from the top is wonderful in time when something is happening at the Altmark square. For example the traditional Christmast market. The view is amazing.

It's no where near as fancy as the Frauenkirche with it's Baroque interior, in fact it's quite plain in comparison, so if you're looking for a big, fancy, showy church, don't bother. However, if you want something that is beautiful in its simplicity then go. There are parts of the original church around the interior, slightly darker stone from where the fires from the bombing raids of 1945 burned. The rest of the church is plain, but there's something about it that you can't take your eyes off of.If you can do it, I recommend climbing the stairs to the tower, it costs €3, but the view is fantastic. I did it because it turns out that the town hall tower is closed for all of 2014 and I wanted to view the city from there. This was the next best thing and it was worth it. The stairs start off wide and easy, and promptly get narrower, steeper, and windier. Great work out, and when you see the view you've definitely earned it!

The church is famous for it's Boys Chior going by the same name - Kreuz Chor. But there's another thing that makes this church special. It was burned out in the bombing of Dresden and the Dresdeners decided not to restore it to it's old glory. Instead they left it as it stood, which leaves you in a space so overwhelming simple and beautiful in form. Not for sensation seekers.

Amazing, when entering the church, jow simple and in effect non-German. Of course, when one knows what this church has gone through thtough the ages, one understand. I believe it is also a must to visit this church.

The view of the city from the tower is wonderful and the interior is a masterpiece. I've never before so loved a church so simple. The space's austerity creates such a holy, pure, and immense feeling atmosphere.

The interior of this church is relatively plain and simple and provides such a contrast to most other churches in Dresden particularly the Frauenkirche. It is also very peaceful and a few minutes here during a busy day is a great way to recharge the batteries.

The interior of this church is remarkable. The almost ubiquitous off-white plaster is very effective and enhances the tranquil space. There are some lovely features, including architectural comprising the fine balconies, arches, roof and altar. The organ against the particular background is fabulous. The artwork is minimal but does include a stained glass window and some paintings. We were fortunate to attend the Saturday 5pm vesper with the Kreuzchor. It was almost full to capacity; our seats were on the first balcony affording us a good view of proceedings. It was interesting to attend a Lutheran ceremony. The Choir was exceptional.

Not really a must see in Dresden but worth the visit all the same when open. I only visited because we were staying across the road at the excellent Nh Altmarkt Hotel opposite.

I feel so lucky to have heard them together with the local chamber music group and some soloists. To acknowledge that you are in a 800 year old holy space with a boys choir that has been kept intact even while the church was 99% destroyed buoyed my faith in mankind. For me it was both musically lovely and inspiring and almost made up for the wasted afternoon at the green vault and the stale Cake in the shishi cafe. The boys choir concert ticket at e2 costs less than a glass iof water in a cafe!

I had heard about the Dresden Boy's Choir (Kreuzchor), one of the oldest in Europe, and decided to attend a concert they were doing at the restored Kreuzkirche (Church of the Holy Cross) in Dresden. The Dresden Boy's Choir along with two adult singers and the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra performed the music of Johannes Brahms. The Kreuzkirche (Church of the Holy Cross) was a perfect setting for Brahms music and the singing was truly amazing. The concert was at 5PM. My seat was in the top section of the church, but because of it's location, didn't offer a view of the concert. I ended up standing the entire time so I could see the performers. You may want to purchase your tickets further in advance to get a better seat. I highly recommend visiting the church when you can see the choir perform. The Dresden Boy's Choir has DVDs available for purchase at the concert.

5pm Saturday is the weekly musical spectacular vespers at the Kreuzkirche near Altmarkt in historic Dresden. While everyone knows the Vienna Boys Choir, the Kreuzchor boys choir is just as wonderful. For the cost of a 2 Euro program, you get an hour long music fest, with a brief homily and prayer. But get there early to get a seat, even though this is the largest church in Saxony.

It's simplicity compared to Elegance of Frauenkirche, this had been rebuilt but not entirely restored but historical artifacts tying the two churches together. If you want to visit Altmarkt Square it's nearby.

This is a large church in the centre of the city, which was rebuilt after the destruction caused by the major air raids of February 1945. Cavernous inside, it is impressive for its simplicity and for its collection of photographs which show the destruction in 1945 and the process of rebuilding, which was delayed for many years post war. Even 10 years after WW2, the photos show just how devastated the city centre remained during the period of Soviet occupation. There is a link with Coventry Cathedral and a Coventry cross-of-nails.Well worth a visit when you are in Dresden.

The church suffered major damage during the Allied bombing of 1945 and was restored in 1945. I found the interior of the church to be quite austere and a bit on the dark side. The exterior of the church needs to be cleaned. The church has a good location very near the Altmarkt Square.
