After meandering around the Old Town, we sat down here to rest. The ruins have signs describing what they once were. One has to use the imagination to feel what it was like then. The views of the surrounding countryside are very nice.
Stumbling upon the gardens just as the sun set was more than I could have asked for. It was by far the perfect time to look out at the our scenic surroundings and snap photos.
If you want to get away from the madness of the city inner walls, come to the gardens for a great view of the valley below. Very short walking distance to the Marktplatz but nice. Not one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen, but peaceful and a nice escape.
these gardens are worth the stroll! Even on a day of wretched visibility, the views of the countryside are beautiful, and the looks back at the towers and wall of the old town excellent. Within the garden itself there are several very interesting sites, ones you'd expect like memorials to early rulers, Frederick Barbarossa among them, but less expected ones as well, like the pogrom memorial.I loved it, perhaps my favorite part of the city - and while I can only imagine what it must be like on a sunny day, you might get the chance to experience it - I hope so - don't leave it out, even on a quick day trip!
Yes, there is a view of the town walls, but unfortunately that's about it. This was the location of the town "castle", but that has been gone a very long time. There are some trees and grass, and the obligatory "holocaust" memorial that seems very out of place. Other than that it is a green space on the bluff overlooking the Tauber River valley. Not worth going out of your way, but if you take the Night Watchman tour, he will take you through the gate to the scenic overview here anyway.
Went here in Autumn, very nice and the view is fantastic. If you want an escape from the tourists then grab something from the bakery and go to the Burg garden, only a short walk from the Markt platz
The garden didn't really impress me as there were not a lot of flowers. maybe because i went when it was almost autumn. the view of the town from there is nice but other than that, nothing really special to me.
The gardens themselves are nice, but not spectacular. It's a tranquil place to sit and relax. The views of the valley from the gardens are more impressive.
We visited this gardens twice. First time was on a walk in the evening and the night view with all the lights was very pretty. The second time was in the morning with the mist raising up out of the valley and again the views over the valley and along the town walls was well worth the return visit.
This is a beautiful garden on the top of the town with a wonderful foggy, almost esoteric view. It is a nice place to relax as it is quite peaceful and silent. It is ideal for those who dislike crowded places and modern city views, as you will only see a lot of amazing green countryside.
It's the old city gardens of the palace (I think!). In the US, we would more call it a city park. It's not gardens as we would think of them, although there is a small garden in it. It's pretty and clean and well worth visiting. What makes it unique is the location. It's on the west end of the "pork chop" shape which is Rothenburg. It's long and narrow, situated above the city walls which surround it on 3 sides. From here, you get nice views out over the countryside and back over the city to the north and south. A nice, peaceful place.
Compared to other parks, this is just average. What increases it's rating is the great views over Rothenburg and the countryside. Nice to visit, not necessarily a must do.
My wife and I had a nice block of free time to use in Rothenburg before our scheduled lunch with the rest of our Viking tour group. It was a hot July day and we were feeling a bit tired, so we decided to stroll to the far end of the main street to rest and reenergize in the Burrgarten. What a great idea that turned out to be! Entering the park we found ourselves free of crowds, surrounded by beauty, and really appreciating the peace and quiet. We did a little path-walking, a little picture taking, and a lot of just plain relaxing in the shade. An hour later we were refreshed and ready for lunch. Highly recommended.
A beautiful park at the end of the main street of town. A lovely place to sit and relax or just wander around looking at the views, gardens and a monument to fallen Jews. We spent many afternoons here and enjoyed lovely sunsets.
