We walked here on a Sunday afternoon and were not alone. It seemed like many people enjoy this short uphill walk. The walk took us 25 minutes which is what the Rough Guiide estimated. Not much to see at the top beyond the statue and the view so if you are pressed for time it is not essential, in my opinion.

The views was worth the climb, would recommend getting a hop on hop off bus and getting off to explore. Would also suggest going at night, we went both day and night but everything lit up was just beautiful!!!!!

We walked up to the statue through the park on a beautiful sunny day. Great view of Budapest from the top

This is a very long hard walk up hill badly signposted and you get a better view of the status from the river . The views over the city are very good but not much better the from castle hill or fisherman's bastion.

Only the braviests will make it to the top (I think you can go by bus if you want to avoid the climbing) but the view from here is really nice!!Definitly one the place you have to go if you pass by Budapest!

The walk to the hill itself from the bridge towards Gillert hotel was picturesque. We just went up for the views and it was well worth the trip to the statue..

Stunning views over the city. We climbed up the hill and it was well worth it!! The views were great from all sides. We climbed just before sunset which really added to how beautiful it was from the top!

We had a short time here but were very impressed with what we saw and were told by the travel guide.

I had a few hours in Budapest and a friend took me up to the statue on Gellert Hill. Lots of tourists were there... with their cameras... and now I know why! What a view of the river and city! YOU MUST GO AFTER SUNSET AS WELL! The city all lit up is a beauty... probably the most beautiful I have ever seen on 5 continents. Take your camera.... extra battery and extra memory card if you even like photography a little. The bridges of the Danube are visible as is the palace and several church steeples. Gorgeous overlook. Don't miss it, especially at night. The lights are like seeing Christmas all year long!

Myself and My husband walked the whole time we were in Budapest as we found this the best way to explore, we walked across the Elizabeth bridge and up the steps which lead up to the top of Gellert Hill- the views along the way to the top are breath taking. We are both reasonably fit and took around 30 minutes to walk to the top, however this was with a photo photograph opportunity stops along the way! The statues at the top are beautiful and really something to see u close- the freedom statue can be seen from all over Budapest, only when you stand next to it do you realise its enormity! we walked back down the other side of the hill, past the Gellert hotel, over the bridge and finished up in the market hall which is just over the other side of the Danube, a good walk with views to remember.

We visited this on our last morning before travelling to the airport - so didn't have much time. It is well worth visiting. The Gellert Hotel is a piece of history and worth going into the foyer to see - and then around the side to the Spa and bath area (again pop inside to take in the architecture). I wish we had brought swimming costumes with us to bathe in the mineral baths. The day was sunny when we visited - but cold - but there were many visitors in the outside pools - and you could see they were warm and comfortable. We didn't have time to climb Gellert Hill (we will on our return) but the views will be magnificent. If you cross the bridge to the Pest side, as you walk down the main road there is a large impressive "Gothic" building on the right with a brightly tiled roof housing little market stalls inside. Again, well worth popping in and feeling as if you have gone back in time! It was bustling and busy......

Spent a lovely morning in the Spa in the many thermal pools. Massage was lovely and masseur was friendly and helpful. A great experience, would definitely go again with a better understanding of how it all works and would definitely go for a cabin to change in.

What can you say, this is a must for any visiator to Budapest. The views are unbelievable. I think that it is easier to do this on the hop on hop off bus. This way you get to see most of the tourist sights in Budapest. If you don't go anywhere else go here.

My favorite place in Budapest. Amazing view to the Pest side, Danube, bridges. I reccomend to go up there to watch the sunset with the Buda Castle on the background. You can go on foot, by stairs from the church in the cave, close to Gellért Hotel. Or you can take a bus at Móricz Zsigmond körtér.

Walked up after a visit to the baths. Amazing views of Budapest. The statue is striking ..... Designed in the aftermath of ww2.
