It is absolutely free to visit, check your stuff in a locker, and receive wifi. Inside offers a lot of wonderful information and displays about Denmark and people all around the world. We weren't able to stay long enough to view all of the exhibits, but it is definitely worth a visit.

The National Gallery of Denmark (Statens Museum for Kunst) is Denmark’s largest art museum, featuring outstanding collections of Danish and international art from the past seven centuries. Apart from the permanent collection the museum also shows temporary exhibitions. Recently both Picasso and Bob Dylan have had some of their paintings exhibited.

We saw the permanent exhibitions (which is free of charge). The modern art exhibition was interesting. The French art exhibition had paintings by some known artists.

Very near the Rosenborg Palace, and easy to see in a few hours. If you are interested in modern art, you may be there longer (the entire third floor was modern and I'm just not that interested). seeing this, however, combined with the Palaces and National Museum, helped me gain a much better understanding of Danish history and culture. Well worth a visit.

Imagine - this fantastic gallery is free! It contains rich collections of European art from the Middle Ages up to now, special attention is paid to Scandinavian artists (which is not difficult to understand). In the cloakroom there are lockers, you have to insert a coin in it to lock it but when you leave, you get the coin back.Visit it, you will not regret!

What a superb gallery - and it's free! Fabulous collection of European art from the mediaeval to the present day, with some particularly interesting Scandinavian pieces. It's well laid out and the staff are helpful and friendly. A definite must - JP recommends.

Good to wander around. Modern bit bolted on the rear of the old building is impressive. Free - maybe pop in a couple of times to see it all.

I really enjoyed my afternoon here. The displays were fabulous and informative. The staff are helpful and really know what they are talking about. Nice comfortable sofas, when you need a break!

The museum has tons of information and artifacts showing Danish history from the stone age forward. If that interests you it's worth the trip. The woman at the desk advised us to focus on the Danish history and fur in fashion (non permanent) exhibits because they were more extensive and see the rest if we had time at the end. We did check out the others, but found her advice to be accurate.

A bit off the beaten path, but the tourist bureau gave us great directions to a bus stop and off we went: its a magnificent building to just look at when you first see it and when you enter there is a locker, no charge for you to put your personals belongings in, which was also at the Nat MuseumThe attendants were so hepful and glad to have us there, giving us ideas of how to see the gallerys, using the guide books they had given us;You can spend hours and hours just walking around, or sitting on the provided benches; There is a coffee room in the lower floor to take a break Not being a real lover of art, we found the gallerys very interesting, and there were enought guides at every door to help us get an understaniding of the individual works.

Great collection of both classic and modern art. I highly recommend the Modern/Contemporary Art part of the Museum.

Give yourself plenty of time as a tour of this excellent museum will take a 1/2 day easily. Great works from all genres. Very entertaining. No better way than to spend a cold winter's day.

The SMK has a great ammount of art imöages from a variety of centuries. It is all catagorized chronicaly and also by nationality of the artist. The second building inhabits the contamporarry art section with art images by artists as Munch and many other well known personalities. It is a most go for artsy interrested people. The entrance is free also!
