Great place to Visit. El chalten is one of the most beautiful places on earth!People in Patagonia Hikes are really kind! Thank you!

There are many great hikes around El Chalten. The Mirador de los Condores hike of 3 miles is very manageable and affords great views of the mountains and the city of El Chalten. The Lake Torre hike is well worth the effort, but it is a long 10.6 mile hike with a short difficult section on a windy day. Laguna Capri out and back of 5.5 miles is a terrific hike partially by a stream with views of the mountains at the top. The Laguna Capri option of 10 miles is very doable as well, but the Laguna de los Tres is a killer at 13 miles...a very steep uphill and rocky downhill in the middle.

We got our equipment for trekking (sleepingbags, mats, stove, kitchen-kit) the evening before we started our hike without extra charge, thanks! The place is also in the middle of town and good to reach. But ask for cutlery if you dont have...we had to borrow from our hostel.

My stepson and I were looking for a backpacking experience in the el Chalten area, and found Patagonia Hikes through a Google search. After several emails back and forth with Maria, we ultimately chose to do a 4-day expedition to climb Gorra Blanca. Maria was extremely helpful in addressing all of our questions, and very patient as we made our decision. She also speaks perfect English, which made communication easy. Our guide Pedro met us at our hotel the night before we began the expedition to check our gear, and we left early the next morning. We were extremely fortunate to have great weather for our trip, and we successfully summited Gorra Blanca on day 3 and were back in el Chalten by the afternoon of day 4. Being up on the ice was an amazing experience and a great way to experience the beauty of this area. Our experience with Patagonia Hikes could not have been better - Maria and Pedro were both awesome and this expedition was without question the highlight of our trip to Patagonia. I would strongly recommend Patagonia Hikes and would definitely use them again.

We missed Perito Moreno because when we get to the hotel in Calafate they couldn't arrenge this tour and all we want is doing some trekking but later we find out that going to Chalten we can do trekking there it was the best experience and people very helpful we went to the glaciers in a boat and when we got there we always have the guys helping us .

Magical. Totally worth it! The scenery is magestic. It took more than 6 hours though but I'm also not an expert hiker. :)

In any Pagonia trip schedule you can't miss El Chalten. There are many places amazing and unique, that you'll see during your trip, but just in this small village you'll be able to breathe the authentic Patgonia's atmosphere, Stunning spots, silence, no tv, no mobile phone, a lot of wonderful trails and very kind people. You can really take your time to enjoy the nature, meet other backpackers and forget the stressful routine

I did a day rock climbing and bouldering class with Patagonia hikes and it was great. The guide adjusted the course to fit every persons level of experience. We bouldered and drank mate all afternoon. Highly recommend booking with this company.

Had an amazing rock climbing experience with our climbing guide Pablo in El Chaten with climbs chosen for our level of experience, lots of climbing tips and insider knowledge of the area. A fantastic way to get a real feel for the magnificent rock faces and glaciers surrounding the town. I would definitely recommend this to anyone of any climbing experience who is visiting El Chalten.

We traveled with 6 people for 4 days, 3 nights around the Fitz Roy. Patagonia hikes did a phenomenal job with its base camps and providing delicious food for those of us with food allergies (nuts, celiac, dairy). Our guide Fede spoke impeccable English and had great knowledge of the Fitz Roy mountain base. Though our hike was rated "easy" it involved 12 miles of hiking each day, some of which covered much rock scrambling during rainy weather. Our guide was best suited for those that had done previous hiking excursions but was not as well suited for coaching those who had not done this type of hike before. Overall, Patagonia hikes did a phenomenal job. If only they could have done as equally good a job on providing good weather!

We had a spectacularly good experience with Patagonia hikes when we were visiting El Chaten for a week in February. Maria was extremely communicative and helpful through every step of the planning of the trip and treks. She had extremely strong recommendations based on our skill levels, interests, and schedule. Furthermore, she went above and beyond expectations by helping us coordinate other parts of our trip and the hikes that we were planning without a guide. We ended up taking a few different treks with a few different guides and they were all extremely knowledgable of the area as well as the technical aspects of hiking and trekking. Simon, our primary guide, spoke impeccable English and was an extremely pleasant hiking companion.Because of their expertise, these guides are a great way of pushing your limits on the slopes as they are familiar with many different hikes of different difficulties and are able to choose one that pushes you while still keeping you from overexerting yourself and hurting yourself.I highly recommend Patagonia Hikes and would absolutely hike with them again. Perhaps for a longer multi-day trek.

I was extremely pleased with my experience with Maria and the team at Patagonia hikes. She assigned us an English speaking guide and was able to easily provide gluten-free and nut-free meals for our highly-allergic hiking group. While the weather wasn't always what we had wished, I am not going to blame them for the wind and the rain!

We did four hikes around Chalten and enjoyed every hike. Some of the hikes around Chalten were as long as you wanted to make them. We took water and something to eat along the way,and took our time. If you go to this area and do not hike then do not go, it is all about hiking, and nature.

There are many types of hikes from El Chaltén, so the choice is vast. And of course the mountains are just stunning and unique. Nothing like the Alps. We walked on frozen lakes, glaciers, in marshes, and many other sorts of paths. Lot to explore. The only one we turned back from was the path along Lago Desierto which was becoming dangerous. Not maintained enough, not sure how you could reach the other end of the lake without taking any risk and breaking your neck. The paths in the National Parks are excellent though.
