Lovely day trip from our cruise ship, Golden Princess. Tour starts with coach tour of city, then about 45 min drive to the estate. . Met on horseback by friendly family of several generations. Nice drinks including unlimited wine ("just help yourselves").Tour of the huge estancia in vintage cars or on hay bales in carts , followed by gorgeous open barbeque with salads and breads. Followed by deserts and coffee. Favourite bit was the gaucho dancing and rope skills. After, horserides were offered, and you could volunteer to be dragged around the meadow on a cowhide! Only disappointment was that I'd expected some showing off of equestrian skills. Oh, and we had a message beforehand to say "sorry - the sheep are unavailable today", which I found hilarious (gone shopping perhaps, or a date with mint sauce?).

La Rabida was absolutely fabulous! I can't say enough about this visit--it was truly outstanding. The family was incredibly warm and everyone was involved in making the visit as special as possible. We loved the food, the ambiance, the animals, the drinks, and all of the activities. We have two girls who love horses and they had the best time--they petted and rode the horses several times. They enjoyed the ride on the cowhide around the yard and the horse and buggy ride to the beach. The dancing was excellent and the performers had good chemistry. The drinks and the food were superb. It was so authentic that we sat on bales of straw for our seats at lunch. The facilities were well maintained and very clean. The grandmother mentioned that she tries to reuse and recycle to keep the authenticity and not waste--she does a great job! This really made our visit to Uruguay extra special and we were so glad to choose this excursion from our Princess Cruise.

It was in March 2014 and we organised our trip to La Rabida through Princess Cruises, and despite the high mark-up that they include in their charges, it was the most wonderful day at this working ranch. Being family owned, the whole family were involved in making our day so enjoyable. There were 4 generations helping out with talks, barbecues, bars, trips to the beach, and horse riding all included. The barns were turned into "restaurants" sitting on straw bales, and after the most delicious lunch, we were entertained by gauchos, dancers, and singers. We travelled all around South America, and this was definitely our favourite country, and our favourite destination. All in all, a fantastic day was had by all, and we do hope that we can return there sometime in the future.

This was a trip arranged through our cruise ship, Crown Princess. It was thoroughly worth while. The ranch was in excellent order and obviously very well run. The host was a lady in her 80's who presided over an operation run with members of her family. We had a chance to visit the nearby beach and to participate in other activities such as horse riding. The lunch was a traditional BBQ with lamb, chicken, beef and sausages as the main fare. There was plenty of wine and beer. A great experience well worth partaking.

We drove about one hour out of Montevideo to this beautiful ranch where we were met by the family on horseback with flags. The barbecue lunch was being cooked over enormous coals and we went to the beach while it finished cooking. The grandmother owner told a lovely story of how she had helped the local women sell their weavings to upscale New York designers. Some of their work was for sale at the ranch.Two highlights in addition to the very tasty luncheon were the trip to the family beach and the dancing performance of beautiful dancers in authentic costumes. We truly felt like honored family guests and not tourists!

The trip to LaRabida could only be arranged through Princess ships which made it pricey. I usually don't do ship tours, but the comments were so positive I took the chance. First, we had a wonderful tour through the city of Montevideo. Let me tell you: Uruguay is a hidden gem of South America. Absolutely charming and quaint. Who knew? We had about an hour ride after the tour to the ranch. We were greeted by gauchos on horseback carrying the flags of the ranch and Uruguay. I believe this is the 5th generation of the family and this is a working ranch. The family was charming and greeted us all warmly. They had a monster barbeque in process for us of pork, chicken, beef which they would be serving with a huge buffet style offering of salads and breads. We sat on bales of hay in a huge barn and while eating folk dancers appeared to entertain us. Very good! We were also allowed to go on horse rides with the gauchos leading us and I even partook in a sled ride on a cow skin and I am 63!!! Beer, wine and pop were provvided nonstop. The granddaughter came out and told the story of her family and the gauchos and introduced her family members. The grandmother promotes the local indian crafts by having a small souvenir stand in the barn of authentic handmade articles of Uruguay. The stawberry shortcake hit the spot for dessert as we loaded up on the buses. I did not hear one complaint even though the day was a bit pricey at $239. We certainly got what we paid for.

É um lugar perfeito pra levar a família e curtir uma tarde fazendo aquele piquenique, gostamos muito de dar o passeio nesse lugar incrível. Muito bem localizado por sinal. Recomendo!

exelente todo, es un establecimiento ganadero que su casco como llamamos los rioplatenses a la casa, es muy antiguo del siglo pasado, está muy bien decorado, tiene un hermoso parque y el personal que te atiende es muy educado y amable

Estancia típica, muy buena comida y demostraciones gauchescas

Esta incluida en la temporada de cruceros, buen ambiente gauchesco con caballos y carruajes.Las instalaciones para día de campo son normales

como estancia turistica debe ser la mas arreglada con todo lo tipico de las estancias de antes, creo que hay que pedir hora para visitarla
