Bit cluttered with all manner of debris but otherwise just OK. Liked the venue, didn't like the debris.

Not a lot is ever mentioned about Avalon Beach but it is arguably one of Sydney's best beaches bar none. The water is so clean as there is no storm water run off onto the beach and no sewer outlets nearby. It's not too big and has really interesting headlands at either end. Generally it is protected from all of the bad prevailing winds so you can find a calm pocket of water to swim in no matter what the conditions. The new surf club facilities and car parks are brand new and beautiful Norfolk Pine tree lined parks at each end. Over the road and the village is full of fantastic coffee shops to visit.I Will definitely be back.

Lovely beach that isn't too busy - even in peak times! Cute beach pools too, so you don't have to swim in the beach; but you have the option to as well :)

Gorgeous local community beach. Not like the touristy beaches like Bondi or Palm. If you are new to the surf, swim between the flags, It can be dangerous here for the inexperienced. Check out the beach and the local village for a coffee. Less busy, much more relaxed than Manly but still viby a lot of the the time.

Very family oriented. Good parking but like all beaches could do with more. Get there early. Great bay like setting.

I went to Avalon for a dawn photoshoot and positioned myself down at the public baths. The landscape is stunning and very easy to negotiate....particularly as i need the aid of a walking stick. The locals were very friendly as well and pointed out features I would have otherwised missed. A great spot. Loads of surfers in the water as well.

From our first view we fell for this fantastic northern beach community. The great swimming area, the fabulous sand and the shops near by. I recommend bringing some local lunch material and having a family picnic at the beach while enjoying the surf.

Great beach with limited commercial availability. Ample parking, but what the hell was the Council thinking when they made it TICKETED parking??!

Just returned from a fabulous long weekend in Avalon and rented a unit in Avalon Pde. Wow what a fantastic location with amazing views overlooking Avalon Beach and close vicinity to the shops. This village is just lovely with cafes and interesting quirky shops. We had a tasty quality meal at the RSL club and sat outside in the outdoor area which was just beautiful. The only disappointment was no sign of a pub in Avalon, I think there is only the Bowling Club and RSL for entertainment, although you may feel like visiting cafes or restaurants. There is a really cool looking bar called The Mill, which looked great but it was booked out for a private function, which was a bummer. We did a trip to the Newport Arms Hotel on Saturday afternoon for lunch, which is located in an awesome location overlooking Pittwater, but make sure you bring along plenty of money as the drinks are a bit on the pricey side as well as the meals. (The meals were really yummy though), The beach in Avalon and the surrounding beaches are just gorgeous and we had several swims in the ocean rock pool in Avalon, so refreshing and watching the regular swimmers was interesting. If you are considering a trip to the Northern Beaches just do it, the area is soooo beautiful, We drove around the area to Palm Beach and were awestruck with all the expensive looking quality homes, wish I could afford to live there. I would totally recommend visiting the area.

They are currently rebuilding what looks like a surf club and some facilities but there is an existing toilet/shower block at north-end of beach. Not a huge beach but very good. The first time we went in the waves were great (I've never been knocked off my feet by a wave before!). But also great for smaller-kids. Little play area/slide - and town is just the other side of the road.Early evening it seems all the kids from the schools grab their surf boards and head for the beach. Good easy-going atmosphere....as ever impeccably clean.

You get a lot for your money with Avalon Beach (actually there's no admission charge). The ocean pool is under the southern cliff (which is a great viewing platform), and a hardy bunch of mixed age morning swimmers brave the elements all year round. The surf club is also at the southern end, and normally that's where the flags are for the swimmers. For the surfers there are several options, depending on conditions. Little Avalon is a shallow reef break out from the southern end of the beach, and is for expert surfers, especially on big days. The beach itself can have several breaks. There is a consistent right and a left towards the south, in front of the surf club. Thene at the northern end there are two or three breaks: Off Rocks, which is a consistent left over the rock platform, and the right which breaks into it. There is usually a current flowing out between these breaks which gives you a quick assist to get out the back. Avalon works best in northerly winds. Depending on conditions, Avalon can take waves up to 3-4 metres. A quality wave.

Lovely beach, beautiful view, great around ambience, lovely sunsets, very enjoyable place to be and a must do visit for visitors to Sydney

South Avalon is the surf club, the pool and the parking. Great for a morning swim, there are changing rooms and showers for bathers. North Av has a surfer vibe. Perfect for an extended loll on the golden sand and a less crowded beach experience.

I think this one is the best beach of northern beaches.Good waves.nice houses around, small beach with a very good vibe.If you like a quiet place you should go.In the south of the beach has a point called little avalon, good barrels over there when the swell is good

A lovely community. Don't want to say too much as no one really wants this place to be overrun. Lots to see in the area of the Northern Beaches of Sydney although a bit of a drive to the north out of Sydney.
