We've seen several waterfalls in New Zealand and perhaps the proximity to a bustling town and number of people at Rainbow Falls diminishes it a bit.

Yes you really do see a rainbow in the waterfall. We were travelling aound New Zealand and this was on our list. There are toilets on the car park and a well maintained path with good viewing places. There is also a camp site close by.

Beautiful waterfalls, but do not decide to hike without shoes as the ways are gravel. That's the only negative thing, everything else is tidy and nice!

You go to the stones store and across the bridge and follow the sign to the waterfall ...lovely walk takes about 1.5 hours and you can also go across the over pass and around by car and see the fallls from above is you are not a walker!

I couldn't believe where we were going through a Suburb, shops, houses, oval then we turned into a car park, parked the car, walked across a grassed area and there were the falls. Couldn't believe it.Walkways to walk around the falls and see them from another perspective.Vegetation was beautiful as well, lush, green wonderful.

Fairly flat terrain - suitable for most - accurately timed .a good walk ( 1 hour ) from the Stone Store , with an interesting old power station along the way and then a lesser waterfall .Worth the walk to see - you can swim or clamber around rocks to get behind the waterfall .Attractive falls and nice view of the river along the way - mostly shady - in native bush .

most amazing waterfall I seen so far in the north island of new zealand and believe me I saw all of them.GO visit and go for a swim its a sanctuary to relax

Shade right through the day - enough people around to feel safe walking solo. The Falls themselves are a drawcard and ability to walk from them to the historic Stone Store was an unexpected delight

Great walk, easy , good water coming out of falls,Free to all, liked the track easy to walk even in jandals

Andreakerikeri

This is the most scenic track in kerikeri, always looks different in any kind of weather. Great walking and/or running track. Bring your togs for a swim at the falls.

there is a walkway all the way to the stone store from this waterfall, which makes it worthwhile, but other than that, it's another waterfall. There is also a swimming hole at the bottom which is well used by locals

Nice leisurely bush walk from the Basin, passing the old Power House, Wharepuke falls and Fairy pools. Falls would be very impressive in springtime after the winter rains, but were still very nice in late February. Good large bathing pool. You can get there the 'easy' way by driving around and up Rainbow Falls Road, but you miss out on the birdsong (and odd sighting) in the woodland. The walk takes from 50-100 minutes one way, depending how often you stop for pictures and looking at sights. Take some water with you!

Best seen after heavy rain, this is a good starting point to walk down to the Stone Store basin along the river, and sample the lovely food at The Pear Tree. However be aware that car theft is not uncommon I am sorry to say. The only downside particularly if you're travelling with a vehicle loaded with passports/ possessions etc.

Large waterfall that is always impressive, highly recommend having a look before and after some rain!
